RE: Linux
same here for dual boot, here is ubuntu, and here is the windows exe which is much faster and the same thing...
http://www.ubuntu.com/ http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/downloadmirrors#wubi follow its directions and in a few short min you can have a running dual boot... as for the others there tons of how to's on setting it up.. |
RE: Linux
would it be easy to setup a simple file/print server in ubuntu?
I want to connect my two other desktops and laptop to it, running vista/xp. |
RE: Linux
well if thats all you want is to be able to print from one pc (vista) to one pc (xp) then a whole new os is not really needed.
i'll right you a tut on how to do so with a few small programs... there all free work great and is prob your best bet at doing so. |
RE: Linux
Im mostly setting up the network just for experience and I want to learn how to use Linux.
I have so many spare parts for comps sitting around I figure why not build a 4th comp. It would be nice to use it as the print/scan/file transfer hub. Also I do not have a TV in my computer room, (too many comps lol) so I figured I would set this one up as a HD-DVR and use one of my monitors as a HDTV. Any idea if there are programs that could work on ubuntu for that? I was thinking of getting a PCI-e tv card w/ remote. The more I think about it I guess I might just do a dual boot and bite the bullet and buy another copy of vista64 ugh... there goes the RC budget lol |
