Screen Resolution?
I got to thinking today and was wondering what the majority of every one's screen resolution is on rcu.
I was wondering about some pics i have and it brought the idea on, i know from ages back that the max pic size was 800x600, now that's all fine and dandy, but it does not give some photos justice, i know my with camera i take 1600x1200 size shots, and at that size there crystal clear and fine and look amazing, but when i shrink them detail is lost and does not have that kick in your face stand back and enjoy it kinda feel. Now i know people who have slow Internet can't handle those massive pictures since it would take forever to load up just one picture and even at 800x600 takes some time, even more if its a pic thread... I know rcu has a system that you can upload pictures but it does work sometimes and others it bugs out and keeps the pics at there reg size instead of resizing them, but would it not be a lot better to install a small app that when people post pictures with [img][/img] tags it shrinks the picture down to the max size 800x600 and then have a small overlay or above the pic bar saying this image has been resized, click to view full size image? I think that would solve a lot of headaches, now back to the original idea of this post, what screen size do you use. For people who don't know, right click on your desktop, go to properties, and then settings and it will tell you. For the longest time i was on 1020x768 and felt it was ok, i remember what it felt like coming from the old 800x600 size screens. Right now I'm using 1280x1024 as i got a new gpu (graphics card) and had to get use to the new resolution but i found it more handy. So whats your resolution at? (sorry if i could not list anymore but theirs not enough slots.) (look for my next post showing the difference in picture size.) |

1920 x 1080 on a Samsung 40"
Once you go big, you'll never go back. But now I want 120hz to go along with the 3 285 gtx sli vid cards. 60 fps is good, and every game is maxed out there, but the gpu's are capable of so much more. |

RE: Screen Resolution?
ORIGINAL: MadManAndrew 40" monitor? Or are you using a TV? I had no idea they made 40" monitors...The 28" my dad uses seems rather large to me, I like 22's...But currently, I'm using a 15" laptop as screen 1, and a 17" monitor as screen 2. It's a TV. Most LCD's have a standard VGA computer input. Though I think Westinghouse made a 42" monitor (its just a TV without a tuner). Mine might as well be a monitor as I do not use the tuner in it. I have Satellite. The large screen really helps immerse one in a video game. Program windows do not have to be as large to view whats in them, and that allows you to have more program windows open at the same time - necessary for my home office. I can do with one screen what most people use two for. Not to mention my PS3 is also hooked up. Love those Blu-Ray movies!! |
RE: Screen Resolution?
1680 x 1050 for me.

RE: Screen Resolution?
Hey rob, are you looking into the Geforce 3D Vision thingy? I'm sorta torn between buying a new 24" widscreen monitor that doesn't do 120hz or getting the Geforce 3D bundle with the 22" that does 120hz.

RE: Screen Resolution?
Shoot, with 3vid cards toggled together in SLI, your 'puter can prbably be plugged into a 50in monitor 600hz and be set to one mil X one mil resolution!

RE: Screen Resolution?
Maybe we should get a wallpaper thread going?...[8D]

RE: Screen Resolution?
I don't know much about it sheo... does it only work with the 22" monitor? The TV I've been eyeing is 46" but its still $3K. If it drops to $2 (it will eventually) I might get it.
Usually those 3d things are pretty gimmicky, and I've seen mixed reviews on those glasses. Once someone comes out with some kind of 3D that everyone says "you have to get this!!!" then I will look more closely at it. Until then, I will bask in my 1080p that takes up 60% of my field of vision. :D |
RE: Screen Resolution?
5120 x 3200 haha well maybe not but that is the largest i can do or have ever seen.
