Anyone notice this?

Look right near your post count. It says score.... Where did this come from? Then you can rate somebodies post at the bottom right of their post.

yes, its what i think is gonna be rcu's reputation bar, so valued members will have good rep or high score and people who flame or this or that will have low score or a negative score meaning there a not so valued member.

This is a good and bad thing, cause now people are going to be reputation *****s trying to get the most rep etc... The up side would be easy to spot someone who will be of help, like in the savage area bud bud is a very very helpful person and is going to be very well repped.

RE: Anyone notice this?

The only negative I see here is that "brutally honest" or "tough love" type posts will get rated as bad.

Very perceptive. I figured we would try this out.

My main idea here is that this should only be an additive positive system. By that I mean everyone is good and some people can achieve reputation greatness is it is earned. that does not necessarily mean a new guy here who starts with 100 points is not possibly has good as a guy with 1000's of points it just means he has not earned that reputation yet in our community. Hopefully this will be a useful tool in terms of invidivual and post ratings to help people find and filter info.

RE: Anyone notice this?

Right now the system doesnt seem to be only additive.

I see this system being wildly misused, and overall being of little to no value at rating at person's value in this community.
Anyhow, a person shouldn't be judged on a score, but rather what they say (which is the only way to gauge a person's character here in this context).
All and all you're trying to simplify what can and should not be simplified.

I just noticed this. I have never seen this on a forum before, interesting system, but it can be somewhat flawed IMO. Cool though, thanks for a new feature RCU!

RE: Anyone notice this?

I've decided I don't like this type of scoring system. I might like it if everyone was fair about it, but there's no way. Already in this thread, most posts have only 1 star, like someone scrolled down the page giving everyone a negative. Most of the posts here seem pretty neutral anyways. I don't see why so many would only be given 1 star.

Even if someone was being fair, they may just have their opinion that I don't agree with. I still don't like it. It would be like me standing in a room with friends, then some random anonymous person (most likely some teenager) walks up to me, says I'm full of crap in front of everyone, and leaves without needing to give any explanation, and there's nothing I can do about it.

I think I should at least be given the option to not have my post rated by anyone. Sites like YouTube give you the option to remove ratings for a video or comment. I have most of these options turned off on my videos, others might like these options though. I like having the choice. I don't know how serious these things might be taken, I just don't want to be labeled wrong. Just a thought[&:]

Come to think of it, I would have to agree with Gex_61. Anyone who doesn't like you on this forum is going to rate you low just to be rude. IMO it should be a system with only positive ratings and 1 person can only rate the same person once.

sheograth 06-28-2009 11:57 PM

RE: Anyone notice this?

I too feel that it should be positive only. You should have an option to positively rate a post if you like it, but if you don't like it you shouldn't be able to anything. This way anyone who is in a foul mood can just go and lower peoples scores at will.
