Believe it or not, things are better than they used to be (Note, "Than, not "Then" - That's another one that bugs me)

I remember the early days of RCU when I used to keep a log of some of the funnier misspellings, such as: "Hammydown" as in, "I got this plane from my Uncle, it was a hammydown"

Or, "mise well" as in, "It's raining, so I mise well stay home"

I'm not sure things are "better", Minn.  *heh*  I've seen all of these recently enough to remember them off hand:

(Note that every one of them includes CORRECTLY spelled but misused words)

All intensive purposes.
Another words.
Tow the line.
Mute point.
I'd just assume (As in, I'd just assume have a DA as...)
Pouring over the manual
I take it for granite

That's why we discourage "Text" type usage here at RCU.

The usual keyboard commands are ok, such as "LOL", "BTW" etc, but we strongly discourage that illegible stuff

All this word talk reminded me of a book I was forced to read in school many years ago. Crazy English is the title, Richard Lederer is the Author. Very funny trip through the English language.

"He alights on oxymorons ("pretty ugly," "computer jock"), redundancies, confusing words (are you sure you know the meaning of enormity?), phobias, contronyms, heteronyms, retroactive terms (acoustic guitar, rotary phone), and a host of other linguistic delights."

Are we having fun yet. We are talking about having fun, building and flying models. This isn't English class. I'll be the first to admit, I can't spell. Does that make me less intelligent, I don't think so. What in the Hell is a dangling participle.

This post reminds me of one of the search words I use often, which are "reciver" and "reciever". I'm sure they received only an offer from me. Oh, add is a math function, ad is an abbreviation for advertisement. I've bought Webber engines too, instead of Webra.

I definitely like being corrected for typing Super Tigre from Thunder Tiger lovers. I do make mistakes as well. But I try to keep them less obvious.

I made a mistake once.

It was this one time, when I thought I'd been wrong, but hadn't.

The misspelling of words happens occasionally, but, In my opinion, the misspelling of words and the misuse of grammar throughout the whole entire post is , lets just say, I wont read any further. What really gets me is some adds on RCU , the bay, and other places. If You were selling an item wouldn't you want to use correct spelling and grammar.

Some of my small peeves:

Hangar/hanger: We have a real estate sign posted locally - on airport property - that demonstrates the need for spell-check.

Executive-and-Chief (It's Executive-in-Chief).

My ex would sometimes say, "I really gouged myself" after a big meal. ;^)

This definitely is a great thread!

I think that's one of those things that you need Preparation H for...nothin' worse than a bad case of dangling participles

I've seen could've spelled incorrectly at least as much as definitely, as in 'could of'.
As long as this thread is correcting things:

It's "could have" not "could of".

This is getting to be fun:

The word you are looking for is "ad", as in advertising. "Add" means to append or make an addition.

Oh, and by the way, you have way too many commas and incorrect uses of capitalization.
