Operating System or Vendor Machine

I wonder if anyone in here are using personal computers in their daily life?

I do, I have a workstation computer and two laptops for Internet services. On my workstation I have Windows-7 and I'm very happy with it, it's a proper Operating System - nothing more and nothing less. Unfortunately everything they have made after that is obviously designed for something like an internet pad with a touch screen of some sort, designed by the smart phone generation to suit their habit and not really ideal for a personal computer at all. And they don't want to offer you two separate systems it seems, they want you to accept something they think is a bright idea from their own point of view - which is making money no doubt. It's a sad story... however, something really good came out of it - it made me discover Linux.

Linux is a forest of different builds and it's just overwhelming if you don't know anything about it, but I did try a couple of different builds and obviously I know what I want - a basic Operating System that works just as it is, simple and obvious to use, with all security features like encryption of removable drives and such, and preferably customizable to my own preference. I did find it, it's call "Linux Mint Xfce" which is based on the Ubuntu series, they have a version for every taste it seems to suit your needs and preferences.

So I went in to the computer store and bought me a brand new low-end laptop on sale, quite affordable indeed - looks nice too. The seller wanted to sell me virus protection and other stuff like an Italian mafioso and I had to tell him several times that I just wanted the laptop, he asked me all sorts of questions like; what you gonna use it for? hehe.. like that was any of he's business. Anyway, I made it home at last with my new laptop, formated the hard-drive to get rid of all the junk that was on it and installed my favorite Operating System on it. Now I know that there is still hope for the world to progress - in the right direction.

Thank you God.
