Peaster Volunteer fire dept.

Last week one of my neighbors back yard caught fire, and I got to thinking about it, so, last Monday I went and joined our fire dept., had to fill out some paper work for a back ground check, I told them I was a licensed jailer and that had to go through the FBI so that may speed things up a bit.
They were real excited that I have a class A cdl with tanker endorsement
and 23 yrs truck driving experience. Just thought I would share that with y'all..

Good deal. I did that for a long time. Nothing better than neighbors helping neighbors in time of need.

I miss it every time I see a truck go by Code - 3

I was a member of a volunteer fire dept. for 15 years and was Chief for 2.5 of those. In my honest opinion the greatest challenge facing the volunteer fire service today is the recruitment and retention of members. Particularly difficult to obtain are those members who are of an appropriate age to be able to fight a fire. The fire service is so laden with training and and government mandated responsibilities that most people don't have the time or desire to participate. About 70% of this nation's fire fighting force is volunteer but that number is decreasing. Keep it up, get your training and serve your community! I applaud you!
