Replacement gearbox for slow stick
Hey all-
I pulled my Slow Stick out of storage, got impatient, and flew it into the ground on a too-windy day. I bent the propeller shaft and broke the propeller, but the motor and gears are OK.
It was all stock, and I was running it with an old 350mah 6-cell NiCd. I know I can't get a direct replacement anymore, but I was looking for some advice on a replacement. Clearly, I'm still a beginner, and I'd like it to stay docile. But the reason I dusted it off in the first place was because I want to carry my GoPro. I've also got a little Ember 2 which is still fun and to me, a lot easier to fly.
I've actually already got some parts on order, because I wanted to modernize a bit.
- 2s 30C 800mAh lipo with JST connectors (to match original)
- 40A ESC Predator 40A ESC, 230mm XT60, because the original ESC I don't think had a lipo cutoff voltage
- A super cheap kit from AliExpress, because it was cheap and figured I'd find something to use it for. A2212 2212 1400KV / 2200KV Brushless Motor 40A ESC 6035 / 8060 Propeller SG90 9G Micro Servo for RC Fixed Wing Plane Helicopter
Can anyone recommend an approach, or is the slow stick old enough that I should just cut my losses and find something new? Appreciate any guidance, because my knowledge is just as out-of-date as the slow stick.
