Default $7.99 1100mah Sanyo Nicad 7.2v Packs @ Tower + M/P Cub

Hi all,

I had to share (or reshare if it has been shared) this blowout on battery packs. I have used these packs in the Multiplex Pico Cub for years. It is the 7.2v pack from the old Kyosho Hyperfly helicopter. It is heavy at 6.3 oz (if I remember right) but in a flyer like the Multiplex Cub, you need this weight to balance the plane anyway. On a Rocket 400 motor, it will fly the plane level at half throttle for 15 minutes easy. This pack fits in the battery bay of the Cub like it was made specifically for it.

For $7.99, it is made from six Sanyo 1100AEL cells. At this price, you can't go wrong even to break the packs down for reconfiguration if the layout doesn't suit you. I have also bought single Sanyo 1100AEL cells to add to these packs for 8.4v configuration, although the Cub doesn't need the extra power on a Rocket 400. Using the stock Speed 400 may require an extra cell.

These packs used to sell for $35-$40. This blowout price has been going at least a month or more, and I imagine will continue until they are gone. For $7.99, you may be inspired to find a plane to fly on these cheap packs, and you can't go wrong with the Multiplex Cub.

As a side note, an aileron conversion to the Cub would be child's play. The wings are thick enough to easily accomodate Cirrus 6.5's or GWS Pico servos for a dual servo barn door aileron setup.

I fly the cub on a [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/speed400.htm]Rocket 400[/link] direct drive with a Graupner [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/elecprop.htm]GR6070P[/link] 6.5 x 4 Scale looking prop and Graupner [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/propadap.htm]GR605323 [/link] 2.3mm Prop Shaft Adapter.

Happy landings!
