Micro Radical Edge
Hello folks, we just got our new micro size (10.5 OZ) Edge flying
from DAve Thacker at RadicalRC. It is a fine flyin sport aerobatic
/3D park and indoor plane. Fast, slow and very aerobatic - a real blast to fly. Have flown several times now in gusty 20 + MPH winds and it handles it very well do its quick responce and good stability.
Looking forward to much more big time FUN with this baby.
Take care and have FUN !! Rod & Chris in PA. Will try to get a pic here soon.

Micro Radical Edge
That plane looks SWEET! I've been thinking about getting one for a while now...
How did you finish it? Is it all sprayed or was some of it covered?
thanks
Chris

Micro Radical Edge
Chris,
I just ordered mine. Have you seen the website?
EDGE
The thought of doing 3D in my front yard was too much to resist.
I should have mine in the next few days. I'll keep you posted on my impressions.

The Edge
Congradulations Wayne and thanks so much for the nice
pic reducing for us ! You will enjoy it for sure buddy!
On the paint questions, it is shot very lightly with a foam
friendly craft paint called design master, works well and dries quick ! The canopy and blus stripes are from ultracoat. The weight and CG are very critical !!! Must keep it under 11 oz and not be nose heavy at all for good performance !
Have some micro FUN ! Rod & Chris

rad 540G
Heres mine tissue/dope covered on balsa and tissue/water based polyurethane glue on foam..weighs 10.5 oz and is moisture resistant for them early morning late evening take-offs.
IMHO itwont be long if left bare that it will attract enough weight to warrant sealing weight expense.

There is a video on the website..
that shows a little bit of flying..they claim 7~9 min. of high throttle, a little more with throttle management.
Mine is on back-order...if you want a LOT more info, check out ezone, there are some detailed threads over there.

The EDGE SPARS
Hello Robert & all, been off line a few days. We did not use the spars on it, wanted to save weight and try without it as we like slower 3D flying and not big on speed for this type of plane. It has worked out fine so far, the wing does bow a tad at times but seems to be no problem. Take care and have FUN !!

carbon spar
The carbon spar is NOT needed for wing strenght. What it IS needed for is to keep your ailerons from pulling out your hinges in the foam as the flex of the foam and the strenght of the balsa aileron cause the hinges to pop out the bottom of foam. I shortened it by 3" on top and 4" on bottom so far hinges are holding fine............All this according to Dave Thacker designer/developer.............This plane does not get 9 minutes @ full throttle, it get 9-14minutes with throttle management probably more like 6-7 WOT...........THe more you fly it the better you get, still holds knife edge flight @ 7-9 minutes with throttle management..

paint on edge
hi guys no covering at all on the edge and no taping either it was all graphed out with fine marker then all hand painted! yes hand painted free hand. the paint i used is water soluble, its called tempura paint. you get it at craft stores(pat catans). i enjoy building and painting just as much as flying.you use 60% paint to 40% water, almost like a stain. as far as the motors go i orderd mine from aeromicro.com and had them in 2 days! from what ive been reading on the web the black diamond motor is the same as the GWSA300 WITH 3.75-1 GEAR RATIO. I ONLY PAID 16.45 A PIECE INCLUDING SHIP A HANDLING. THEY CLAIM THE B DIAMOND MOTOR IS THE GWSA-300 WITH THE TIMING ADVANCED,TO ME THATS NOT WORTH PAYING EXTRA 22.DOLLARS!
