RE: The Australian thread
Bleary, Ive always had a soft spot for the Brio, its just a beautiful all round pattern plane.
Oz, thanks for the information regarding the receivers. I can use them in future foamies that can take a ding, as long as the glitches aren't major its fine. Im really itching to get the Prodigy/ Genius up, its the best looker Ive had and hopefully the best performer, but i will be putting some good stuf into it so my birthday may not even bring enough money. I will get a balancer before I but the battery. Anyone have experience with the E-watts 25 amp esc apart from Dave? I know Daves Ok with it but Id be interested to here if anyone has any problems with it, eg glitches ?

Not much room in the cockpit of the Fokker. Not a very comfy seat either, but it was an awesome feeling. Took me about 20 minutes getting and 20 minutes getting out of her tho cause i didnt want to damage her. I was so shocked when the bloke showing me around asked me if i would like to sit in one of them. Hes another of me smiling after checking my 6 and seeing Biggles or Algy wasnt hot on my heels.

I used the x-mount that came with the 480 but what I did was to firstly screw the x-mount onto the firewall using the inner holes (which are normally used to mount the motor to the x-mount). Then when it was fixed to the firewall I drilled holes in the firewall using the outer holes of the x-mount. I also used my Dremel to cut notches into the area behind the firewall so that the 4 blind nuts could pull in tight onto the back of the firewall when the x-mount was screwed in from the front.
Then I unscrewed the x-mount from the firewall, screwed to the 480 and then screwed the mount with the 480 attached to the new holes I drilled into the firewall.
Does any of this make sense? Even when I re-read it, I'm not sure....
Cheers,
Crawf

Bloodyhell! nothing ever fits right!
Crawf, did you use the X mount that came with your 480,or bodgy something else up? the X is too big for the firewall holes...I guess I could drill more holes, but there must be a better solution.I will go and have a look in my box of tricks.
This is another one of those lessons that I never heed as I try and stuff a V8 in a Hyundai Excel....again....
She looks nice though in a square kinda way....
Bleary.

DB
Was that Fokker in this country ? I couldn't imagine anything better than sitting in a piece of history like that !
Hope you got lots of photos !!
MC No beaver jokes
Actually reminds me, when I was in IT, there was a Vietnamese bloke in our Test & Repair facility in Sydney called Fok Dat, needless to say, after we heard his name, when anything broke, someone would say "Who Fok Dat ?" .......................... I'll stop there
cheers

RE: The Australian thread
It was a replica, just under full size.
It was fully flyable and in working order tho. I moved the stick and the control surfaces moved.
It was in a museum out at Dolby, near Towoomba in QLD. I was visiting my grandparents and they knew i loved planes and flying so they took me to all these cool little museums and airfields that had old warbirds sitting around.
If this link works then all the pics of the Spit where takken at the Richmond RAAF base in Sydney. The rest in little museums in QLD.

RE: The Australian thread
Im running out of excuses to write. I just looked over the destruction manual for my genius- all five pages of it. Very poor excuse for a manual. I see that they are using 55's all round, i wonder if an E-sky servo for the rudder will be good, or if I should stick to getting a high quality Jr servo.

RE: The Australian thread
I'm finished with expensive servos maiden - I'm using cheapies these days unless it is something I hand built (like the RV4, and G300).
By the way - do you have a link to an online vendor of this new plane - just so we can take a closer look at it?

RE: The Australian thread
OK.. off topic but who cares
I'm trying to help in the quest for page 200
Who has ever had a DC3 parked outside their house?
I have.. well it was an ex-DC3 which had long ago been converted into a roadworthy bus... I'll see if I can dig up the actual story which is quite fascinating but this was a real treat to find outside our apartment one Saturday morning....
Enjoy!

I aim to please Ive somehow in my head made up a picture of what I think each of you look like, dont know how, sorta like what I imagine a new singer looks like until I see them in a picture. Maybe we should all post a pic of ourselves with our favorite (or only) model? It would be good to know what each of us look like.
Thats quite a compliment MC. Kinda wish i never posted me mug now i could handle people thinking i look like Tom.
They say I'm the black sheep of the family... what do you think?

Digital, the Hitec HS - you can get a kit to change the nylon innards to the better metal upgrade. All details are in Critterhunters post - just do a search
