Spackles,
Yeah but I'm kinda like you now looking for a better flying place. I've flown at the field near the Hoover Met several times now but I wish there were fewer rocks there.
Are you still flying at the parking lot area at the Met and dodging those street lamps?
I saw a great filed out near the Win Dixie store in Chelsea but right next to it was the preverbal "Private Property" and "No Trespassing" sign but at the same time it also says..."For Sale" It's a teaser and that field looks so great for flying out of.

Yeah so just in case...If there are any new people here from the Birmingham Alabama area, please give me and Spackles a shout and let us know of any good flying spots.
Hey Moose...too bad you don't live closer to us down here since your also in Bama. Do you find good spaces to fly up there in Huntsville?

2 3/4" Dubro Diamond Lite tires and 1" TAIL WHEEL IS from A FIREBIRD COMMANDER's landing gear. Whittled to width as well. Leftover SC landing wheels and tail wheel fit nicely on the smaller older brother, the PZ Super Decathlon (the plane that preceded our SC was this one and the J-3 cub). Of course I still like my SC better, but the SD flys great too with a Venom 370P micro motor upgrade (thank you Glacier Girl where ever you are for the idea). Foam in the fuse, Deans connectors, etc. Sorry to get off the SC with Decathlon pics. Just wanted to show that those Supercub stock tires can fit nicely there on another smaller plane for the same effect: Better Landings.

By the way anybody else got pics of their planes? here's pics of the siblings side by side:

I more room for more battery options on my Son's SC so I increased the battery cage size. I completely removed the old cage and cut of and used the wheel mounting and battery hold down protions, cut pieces of birch and balsa, made a flap door and used epoxy, Househole Goop from Home Depot and hot glue to hold things together. I coated the wood with epoxy to add strength. I didn't think to take pictures until I was almost done so what you see is the almost finished project. We went out flying with it this morning and had several long flight times with 9 cell NiMh and 3 cell LiPo's. We have a brushless on the way.

I also disconnected the ACT and had way more fun. We left off the wheel skirts and the wires seemed to bounce back into place after landings. They used to bend almost every time.

Hope the pictures upload.

This is the 1" wheel you are looking for.Requires very little modification to fit.

22 would actually be a smaller wire size than 18.The wire size on the battery would be acceptable even if a little smaller than the charger.Nows a good time to convert everthing to deans connectors if you were ever going to do it.

Has anyone notice a difference in take off distance with the larger wheels? Looks like the angle of attack is much greater!

I only wish the weather would lift here so I could go flying. Been raining and/or blowing here for what seems an eternity.

I put my larger wheels on the same time I did my brushless. The last few times I flew it takes off with just a BURP of throttle. I left my rear wheel stock so YES the angle change is noticeable. I would say what I am experiencing is a combination of the two.

With my 2 3/4 inch front and 1 inch back wheel the angle of attack is about the same as stock. It is much easier to control on takeoff and landing though.

Hey Wayne! How's the brushless working out for you? I'm still a newbie at this flying stuff, but flying , in whatever way necessary!
Have had my bumps and bruises, mostly trying to fly in too small an area! So now that I have her back in shape, and the new wheels, have found a field 2 citiy blocks worth, so hope to use it to my benefit!

As promised heres one video. More to come. This is the one of me flying around at an old sod farm that they have built a church on. The landing is a little rough because I landed cross wind. The view from up there is nice though. Hope you guys enjoy and let me know what you think.
Here ya go

Flying has been good. I have under 20 flights on the new Brushless set-up ( Park 450-890 KV) but like it much. There is a considerable difference in power, smoothness and control. After take-off plane can go vertical for quite a good ways before even thinking of planing out. My initial flights directly after the renuild were plagued with trouble, I tried doing too much without understanding the consequences to my inattention to Center of Gravity and Center of Lift.

There are quite a few people on the board here who have upgraded to this motor and even bigger.

After the weather clears I have a fistful of different props to try out and can't wait to get out there.

You a newbie, heck I am probably just as young as to this hobby. I got my plane just a couple months ago.
