No need to apologise VeeAte, there'd been talk of a new thread for quite sometime and Part 4 had run unusually long already - it's just difficult to isolate the cause of our issues. RCU has been pretty shonky for a while now.

Keep us posted with your new builds, they might inspire me to get on with my own

Now that you mention it RCU has always given me hassles on and off.
May be some issue with our network in australia communicating with the US network RCU is run from.
Who knows.

I will update you on the build. Tho I dont think your gonna get cranked into action watching me build a dodgy looking trainer.

V8

l pulled the old thumper out of her and put in a 351 cleveland
changed the front end to a Xy disc brake setup as l needed the massive weight to stop at times
put an Fmx Tranny in her and had a shortened tailshaft put in to a 9" diff

sorry guys its not a plane but it did ummmm " fly"

Redid all the leather work in her
and the floor rusting got ripped out

lovely old girl

gone to ebay

Sweet as. She would have gone like the clappers!!

Mate had an XC Fairmont with that exact same engine and driveline and that thing was just downright insane.

I am a Holden man at heart. But I appreciate anything that has had a lot of TLC put into it.

Even owned a couple of Fords!! ssshhh

Had my Socata TB-20 Trinidad low wing sport semi-scale plane turn up today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really stoked that its finally here!

Took it home at lunchtime and quickly assembled the bits for a quick photo ... then realised i left the camera at work! Ill post some photos of it later.

Its meant to be a RTF model ... but as noted in the RCG thread for it it needs a lot of fix ups done to it.
The elevator is as stiff as last months socks!
The paint job is also crap but i plan painting it more scale like so no real biggy.

Hopefully ill fire it up this arvo to see what the motors like.

I'll take two at that price Woodsy.

Tell ya what. You order me one too. And as soon as it gets here I will fix you up the cash.

Well this epoxy stuff smells what I imagine burning cat nuggets smell like.

Weird.

Another fine build and maiden for the Barbie....although I'm not sure what category to put that one in Bleary. Now that I see her fly maybe Big Ears would be more appropriate. You'll have to rethink your storage now

Finally spotted the pic Geoff. Nice thing even if it is a Ford Any of the old classic stuff interests me. Definitely become sunday cars though now with the energy costs. All my guzzlers are parked.
Son-in-Laws deeply into cokebottle Ford V8s however .....has a few xy/xws he plays with ....ones a sunday club racer and he gets a lot of track time with it as he's on the safety crew at Winton.

never say die Geoff ....here she is!

Tis thread always amazes me!!! Its at the forfront of cutting edge technology in electric flight, EDF's with 6S and spinning 5000+Kv, hovering at championship level by some yong'uns, wads full of cash being spent on the best that money can buy, and even guys who can build from scratch techie stuff of all descriptions...........

And there's a fKing Noddy Mobile[>:][>:][>:].........the World gone Mad, Mad I tell ya......but I like it!!!!!

Go Bleary GO!!!!!

Thanks boys....Noddy is probably gonna be shelved for a bit...pain in the bum to fit in the car with any other planes...I was just interested to see if it would fly...I have a germ of an idea for something even funkier in supersize...watch this space.

Well I got the wing glued together. Nice and straight too. Stoked about that.

Got the tail feathers lined up and the covering removed ready for poxy. Assembled the tank. Assembled the wheels n tyres. Dont like the rims or tyres so will put the alloy ones on it that used to be on the old Classic.

n thats about it for now. Was starting to find it hard to keep my eyes open so thought I better retire for the night and glue the rest up tomorrow.

Took a pic with it all dummied up. The prop thats on it is not what I will use. Couldnt take a pic with no prop. Going to call her "Bon Bon".
Her red and green colours remind me of christmas bon bons. Just no ******* try and get the paper hat and the toy out of her!!

Reckon you could fit a glow engine to that? Or major work needed?
Would be cool with an OS 30 four stroke! [>:]

VeeAte,

It's a bit small... more of the TD 051 class or _perhaps_ .10 ... but seriously, it'll shake to death if you use a glow engine, the engineering in these planes is not such that they can sustain the harsh glow motor vibrations.

Nice looking plane V8, it's not pretty but something about it just looks right. Nice job so far.

Have you given electric flight much of a go? It sounds boring but there's something really manly about a 500 watt electric motor that's the size of your fist. And watching it haul a 2kg plane around without flinching is just plain satisfying. It is more expensive than glow flight, but it's easier I think - and more convenient.

Definitely worth a red hot crack one day if you get tired of noise complaints

Having said that I've got a Kyosho road car with a .15 motor in it and it's an absolute hoot, the noise is addictive...

cheers

I just realised why VeeAte has glow planes. Geralton is pretty windy - a different kind of heaven for Tam and myself a big sailboarding venue. I reckon a parkflier just wouldn't get much of an outing.

Bleary there are some pretty crazy depron plans around. I saw a huge 2m teradactyl glider. Now I reckon that would shut the magpie's up..........

Hey there V8
Mate that looks really cool .. needs a bit of sanding though .. there seems to be a bit of an odd protrusion from the nose

Looking around the place for good plane deals .. (As one does) and found this place over in Werribee. Seems to have some good prices!

Rang him ... and he didn't seem the friendliest bloke on earth ... and three planes on the site I aske about .. no stock ...
http://www.rcheadquarters.com.au/

Cool Stang Woodsy .. wonder if anyone will make an RC version of it ???

Cheers
Rowdy
