e-starter weight
I've been flying a slow stick for a while now,so I got an e-starter.It has the 350 motor,I used naro servos,a pico receiver, and have 2 950mah lipolys. One is mounted in the stock battery location all the way to the rear, the other is in the top/forward section, and is a really nice fit.It balances fine in the marked location, maybe a fuzz nose heavy. All up weight is 13.7 ounces. How does this compare to other e-starters?
I have not flown it yet, want to get really good with the slow stick first. |
RE: e-starter weight
I just got an E-Starter Kit and, reading through the instrutions, I can't find a dimension that locates the correct CG location. Apparently you've found it. Where is it?
Thanks in advance. |
RE: e-starter weight
The cg marks are just aft,and outboard of the wing reinforcement slot, look closely and you will see it. I have read in these forums about cg on this plane with some differing opinions. But is seems to want to be slightly nose heavy at the stock CG mark.I still have not flown it yet,TOO much wind here in Ok. lately, hope this helps

RE: e-starter weight
This evening I got to maiden the E-starter!!! After I had double and triple checked the plane,it was time to take a big breathe, hit the throttle and give it a moderate shove into the 2mph wind.
The E-starter took right off straight. All the time accelerating, feeling the climb was a little steep,I added a couple clicks of down elevator. At about 100 feet up,I throttled back to about half, added a couple more clicks of down, and 1 click left.Checking the rudder function,I found it worked quite well but needed no trim adjustment.:D!!! All the posts I read about how good the estarter flew were right on! Meanwhile I am flying in lazy circles,up down, left, right,IT'S ALL GOOD!! After about 7 minutes I brought it in for a nice soft landing in tall grass,it floated in and plopped right where I flared it:D!!!!After checking the motor and batteries temps, and volts,I hand launched it again for at least another 8 minutes. With plenty of battery still left I cruised slowly towards my landing area, then accelerated back up and around for another pass.On the third trip around I again floated into the tall grass for a landing.PERFECT!!!!When I got home and checked the batteries,I found I still had lots left, enough for at least another 5 minutes with no sweat!! I use a pair of 7.2 volt,950mah li-polys.One is in the stock battery compartment, all the way to the rear, the other is in the top cabin area all the way forward. This area is just the right size, but allows room for air to flow around it.I used a simple "Y" harness to make the connections of the batteries to the speed control. All up weight is just over 14 ounces with most of the important re-inforcements I read about here, done. Both batteries, and motor were just slightly warm. The E-starter balances just a fuzz nose down, and if you chop the throttle,it just glides so nice!No pitch up,or down!!!!! I am very pleased with it so far.Teaching myself to fly r/c is very rewarding!:) |
RE: e-starter weight
Thanks for the CG info. I'd have never found these marks. They look like molding defects in the foam. I looked through the alleged manual again and still didn't find any reference.
Congrats on your successful flights. I hope mine goes as well. |
RE: e-starter weight
Look on page 13 of the manual, where it says "preflight checking list" it shows the mark there.Like I said before, mine came out just a fuzz nose heavy, but it sure flew great! I bet wind would be a different story though.... Good Luck,go lipoly if you can,I got mine off of ebay,$30.00 for the pair,shipped,3.4 ounces for 1900mah!
