battery Help

I am thinking about purchasing some batteries in bulk from powerstream.com I have a zagi and I think the cells are the 2/3 A size. I also have a jkaerotech P-51 electric. What size cells to you recommend for the P-51. Can I use the 2/3a to keep the weight down or should I go with the larger sub C ?? I have to buy $200 in batteries so I want to get something that will work in both my zagi and the P-51. I also plan to buy a A-10 by electricjet in the future but I think that uses the sub C also. Please shed as much light on this as you can.

Here is a recap of the question

What size cells are in the zagi 400?

Can I use them in the P-51?

What size cells might be used in the A-10 from electric jet factory?

Joe,
IIRC, the Zagi 400 has a 500mah battery pack. The Cells I believe are 2/3 cells. As for if they will work with the EJF A-10, which one are your refferring to, I think they sell more than one.

Some cells you could probably use in all of the above, would be the CP-1300 cells, as they are the same size as the 800 AR (I think) but they give long duration, they are a lot heavier than say the 600 AE cells which are a good sport battery, not suited for high drain situations.

Also, take a look at some 1050 mah Nimh cells, same size as the 500A cells in the Zagi packs, but you're looking at twice the duration.

You should be able to use the 600 AE's in your JK Aeroteck Mustang (I'm assuming this is their really small 26" span 'stang, and not a converted glow combat 'stang, they sell. )

Personally, for the price, I like the 600AE's, you can buy a lot of them. Hobby Lobby for example sells an 8 cell pack for about $25 or less, and HL has some of the higher battery prices around. (not knocking HL, I like HL a lot in fact)

Actually I am using the converted glow P51. I am powering it with a cobalt 400 with a 3:1 gear box. I am using 8 2/3a nicads to start with. The are rated at 800mah. The static thrust on this set up is 20oz and 7A. I have not run a long duration test because I lost the set screw on the prop holder. I am also having 8 cell 700mah packs made. I will be getting 50 of them so some will be for sale for around $12.

Here is the P51 in construction

Joe:

Not all 600's or 700's are the same.
That's why the 600 AR's are so popular since they dump their load
so fast and give great thrust. I had a pack of 700's made by
Battery Plus which was a real bust compared to the Sanyo 600's
It took 10 of the 700's to match the thrust of 8 Sanyo's 600's

these batteries in a side by side comparison are just are good as the sanyo 600. I got one sample pack prior ro purchasing 50 and I can not tell the difference. I have tied my zagi down and used my wattmeter and the numbers are just as good. Most of the new packs are spoken for I was just trying to help a few guys out on the battery expense.
