"Bomb" dropping from the F-27..?

Just wondering, saw the Bomb drop modual from Hobby Zone (I think?)...just wondering if anyone has turned their F-27 into a F/A-27? I understand that it clips on to the top of the fuse where the Air to Air zapper go's...so some inverted flight would be required for dropping....any thoughts?

RE: "Bomb" dropping from the F-27..?

Oh yeah, works pretty good. You have to either be inverted to use the parachute guy, or climb up about 45 and release as you idle power and push the nose down really hard. The negative G will make the guy clear the prop and fly off the top of the plane. If it is less than -1G and full power it'll just get tangled in the prop. Then one of two can happen: you now have a dead engine and can land really easily, or, you now have a super-slow Stryker with a prematurely fired drogue chute hanging out the back! Landings will be nose first when this happens. lol

As for the little plastic bombs, I've dropped then hundreds of times and only got one stuck in the prop once. I think it's a kick and is really a cool feature for the Stryker, even though it wasn't really made for it. And for the plastic ones, I've found that just keeping a nice track on a 45 degree nose-down attitude will allow them to clear the prop, again with power at idle.

P.S. I've never DROPPED anything while inverted, I always just rely on the negative G push-over. It really looks more realistic as if the aircraft was performing a pop-up maneuver to release its load.

Hope this helps! :)

RE: "Bomb" dropping from the F-27..?

Thanks for your help....I tried the inverted release last night and managed to get one successful drop(both bombs) and one drop with one in the prop. Oh-well. I gave the bomb "rack" to friend last night to see if he can splice the wires together so I can have more than one rack...under the wings. I'm going to see if I can have it somewhat resessed so that it won't get damaged on landing.. Thanks for your help...
