ESC help.
What ESC will I need for a GWS 350C-C running a 9x7 prop with a KAN650 9.6V battery? I have a GWS 100 (5A) but I was told I might need a 10A.

RE: ESC help.
If you don't have a program like Motocalc or such, hook an amp meter, or an Astro or Watt meter, in line between the motor and the battery. With the prop on, run it up very briefly and note the amp drawl. You'll know then how many amps it pulls and what you will need in the way of an Esc. Note this will only work on a brushed motor.
I did some quick checking on Motocalc, depending on the gear ratio, you may need and even higher rate Esc. |
RE: ESC help.
You will need a 10 amp esc on the setup you mentioned. You will be pushing the 10 amp limit at WOT early in the flight when the battery is still peaked, so don't hold WOT for more than a few seconds. As the battery fades you will have more WOT leeway towards the end of the flight.
