Have built the P-40, F4U, P-51 and finally the P-47. I added ailerons to the P-47 and put in a 180 size motor with a 5x3 prop. It has a 2S 480mA LiPo. It is Extremely fast and very responsive with the ailerons. I used a single aileron servo and flexible pushrod taped to the bottom of the wing (the servo was mounted in a cut out in the center section). The MAN article recommended the Astro Flight geared motor upgrade but the 180 was the same diameter as the original 130 and just a little longer. I would highly recommend it (especially sinse the 180 motor was $9.99 and the astro flight motor was $80!).

What did you do with the rudder? I'll have the Mustang soon and was going to do exactly what you did, just not sure how to fix the rudder.

Tower hobbies has that motor for only 4.99 I have it in the Spitfire with the original prop and it pulls 2.4 amps on a 2 cell 450 Etec lipo.

you don't need a brushless setup to use lithium, just an esc that has a low voltage cutoff.

6 volt for a 2s lipo is right.

I have the P-47 and also used the 180 motor from a areobird scout I had. Set up ailerons and elevator (no rudder) with bluebird 306 servos. I use an E-Tec 700 mah 2s lipo. The RX is a blue bird also. The esc is the pixie 20:D
This little guy is a good balanced flier.

I just got an electricfly lipo and didn't notice before I got it home it has a charge and a discharge wire coming out of the pack thats 2 leads off the pack? is this something for people who want to cycle there packs if I just leave it hanging loose inside the plane will it hurt anything etc?
