West Coast man myself,was at last years grand final when you mongrels beat us,great atmosphere though.Myself and the missus are going again this year,just hope that West Coast make it,Adelaide are looking quite strong.

Last years grand final was a great game to watch, it was the day after my 21st and my whole family was at home. I was going berko and nobody else knew the rules.

Id have given my arm and both my legs to have been there.

Which way do you guys fly your flight paths?

I mainly fly in a clockwise cirlce/ square / oval. All right ahdn turns with a few little lefts to mix it up.

My problem is when i try and fly in a anti clockwise direction, flight path, i struggle keeping my plane level and smooth. Every time i have tried to fly in a anti clockwise direction i get all confused and dumb thumb it and nearly crash.

Anybody else had or have this problem and what did or do you do to try n correct it?

To save myself the nerves i just fly clockwise cause i can do it comfortably.

Well it was a great game I'll admit,up until the last two minutes or so....[&o] Could have been worse,could have lost to Collingwood or something.
I usually fly anticlockwise,mainly because of the shape of the oval I normally fly at,and the normal wind direction makes it easier that way.Now that I think about it,I guess it feels slightly more natural for me as well,although I fly the other way at another place I fly.
It's good practise to fly figure 8 type circuts so you are not always turning the same way,I found it very handy for orientation problems I had when starting.Get nice and high and start out with gentle turns,then start making them tighter and tighter as your confidence gets up.This method helped me, give it a go.

Dont mention the C word on these forums please :P Yes very nerve racking exciting edge of your seat footy the 05 grand final. Like alot of games being played this year its good to see such close competition for the top 4 and 8.

Cheers for the advice Bleary, if the wind drops a bit i might go for a drive and see if its clamer anywhere else and give it ago. I hate where i live its so bloody windy. Got batts on charge and im sitting in the ready room waiting for the ops phone to ring and then SCRAMBLE!

I dont really pay attention to which way I fly. Actually, i dont fly in circuits at all, I just turn when ever i feel like it but gently, great for building up speed for a good loop.
Oh yeah and, collingwood's gonna win the grand final, no point in arguing about it:)

Well its late now the light is fading and the wind didnt let up all day. I need to find a way to stop the trees from swaying so they dont cause so much wind.

No scramble for me on this dreary sunday.

I'm an anticlockwise flyer like Bleary for the most - mainly due to a series of light poles at the field and have just become used to that. Huge wind blowing on the weekend but still took the Typhoon up - was going slower than walking pace into the wind which was great for rolls and loops. The significant other came down and said I was nuts because there was also a torrential downpour which had most of the filed underwater. I had only a small area to land on but the wind actually helped.

I should build this myself,but have no time or patience.I am going to brushless this with either a hacker A30axl or an ebay special about the same.Not sure whether I am going to go 3S 1800/2100, or 4S 2100 parallel.
Bloody lipos are worth twice the airframe,so need to get it right.Will probably start with the two smallest 3S in parallel,and work up...
Gotta convince my mate to get one so we can combat...yeehaa:D

looks like bad weather all round. Raining and 20 knots gusting to 30 all weekend. So much for sunny queensland!

Im charging my nattery now. Looks like the winds settled down.
As for spad, doesnt look like the best combat plane but with that setup im probably wrong.

Funny you post that Bleary i was thinking bout getting a spad together as well. I dunno anything bout them tho and also dont have the time or patience to make one.

DB will let you know how it looks when I get home in a week.They are designed for a 25 size glow motor,but I have a couple of medium size outrunners looking for a home.Depends a bit on how heavy it is as to my battery choices,but it will have to be parallel I think to get the capacity I will need.Not sure there will be much flying time on this break from work,got a heap of work to do on the new house[&o]
I have about 4 planes waiting for a maiden,but no time to fly them,as well as about 4 still in the box...Least I will have some good projects when I get some spare time.

Bloody hell Bleary you will be a busy boy when you get home. I struggle to get time to fly 2 planes left alone 4 to maiden and 4 in box. Plus a house to reno.

Well I don't have time,thats the problem,and while at work for two weeks I am in front of the computer every day,and temptation gets the better of me,and the credit card comes out...:D
Even if I can sneak in a couple of hours of building time in the shed,I'm happy,cos sure as eggs any spare time I find to fly it will be windy for sure.
Oh well thats me at the moment.

I think ive decided the plane i wanna get next. Its the global hobbies p47 thunderbolt. Very sweet looking warplane, not so sweet looking price tag. Its got a 67 inch wingspan, quite a large bird.

Does anybody know where I can get a air hogs aeroace in oz? In the US they're sold at Toys r us and Target, but I've had no luck finding them here. I'm just a bit iffy about buying something from O/S at the moment, and besides I would rather support the local industry.

Hey Clovus, I have no idea where you can get one of those but two places id try 1st are modelflight.com and hstore.com.
If they cant help you try Wings n Things they are a good hobby store mainly dealing with planes and i also have found hobbies in the hills quite a handy store.

Bleary i hope when i get married, no if i get married that my wife is as patient as yours. My girlfriend pays me out for how much time i spend just fiddling and has mnay times passed comment ow the planes get more attention than her, maybe if she was as fun as my planes id..... better not finish that sentance. i wish i could browse this site when at work but they bloody blocked the net the bastages.

hey you can get Aero Aces here in oz for $39.99 at toys-r-us but they are sold under the name of X-twin. I have 2 brilliant planes i fly mine on my street:P

Its very quiet downunder guys. How was your weekend of flying?

Ive got 2 flights on my stryker so far, i need to get more batteries ones jst not enough. 20min flight then 70min charge.

I flew my stryker just before but only five minutes lasted on the battery for some reason. I am working on scratch building a scale model piper cub j3. Ive just finished making the plane and Ive started making it. All I need to complete it is an engine, five servos, receiver, muffler, battery and fuel, fuel tank, tubes and oh yeah, the balsa.[X(]
It will be an all balsa build with some carbon fibre. Its got a winspan of fifty inches and lenght of thirty two inches.
I have to try and keep it as light as possible.

I picked up a X-twin on saturday. I must say I was quite suprised, for the price its not too bad. Comes with a lipo! the battery charging from the trans is a neat idea. Best of all it will fly in my living room! Worst was my girlfriend was able to do more laps before crashing then me!! I spent all weekend playing with them instead of finishing my WM sptfire, or flying my ultrafly outrage.

I think I will pull the guts out of one and make a depron indoor jet. Should be fun!
