yard stik

I a in the process of building a GP yard stik. I am aware of the stock motor and recomended battery to be be inadecuate for the airplane making it very under power.

I already bough a speed control for it (electrify C-7 which it will take LiPos').

Anybody could recomend by experience which kind of battery I could upgrade tis thing so it's not underpowerred?

thanks...

You can try the team orion slo-max 300 it is a big improvement over stock.part # ori61107 at www.horizonhobbie.com I run one in my slo-v and it's great. At 11.95 it,s a bargain.

I have a Yardstick and love it. I'm using an Atlas Bl outrunner turning a 9X6 prop on 3S TP2100. Super long flight times and lots of power to boot. With this setup ROG takeoffs are very short (less than 10') and can handle fairly strong winds. Here are a couple pics of mine. Its not the prettiest but she flys great. As far as a bat maybe a 2S lipo 600 - 800mAh. Eflite makes that has a fairly decent price.(under $30) I had one on the YS when it was stock and worked pretty good. IHO I would think about going BL.

Thanks for the replies. I know YS is great airplane...I hate whaen they desing a cool plane, but they sell it underpowered just to make it cheaper...

That is why I hesitated in getting into electrics..they look soo underpowered...you got to spend a lot of $$$$ to get it flying right..

I just received a yard stik and built it in a few hours. A lot of people say to replace the power systems.I also live up at 7000 feet. Is there a way to only upgrade the motor and use the stock 3:5:1 gearbox (fits size 280 motor)and the stock prop( 10x4.7). If so what motor would you recommend. I am using the great planes 6c 650 mAh NiMH battery and the C-5 nano high frequency electric speed control.
