E-STARTER by GWS
Just got the E-STARTER. Then noticed it has ailerons, does this mean it is aerobatic? Looks like a good flyer, and fun to build. Anyone have one?

What type of airfoil does it have? If it is flat or semi-symmetrical it will be OK for aerobatics. If it is undercambered the ailerons won't be very effective and it won't do too much.

Heres a pic of mine. I've not had a chance to build it yet.
Strange airfoil. Should be somewhat aerobatic. |

It looks like a fun and easy kit to build. I will start mine next week after I clean my building table off. Should be a good flyer with the ailerons, a good improvement over the park stick's. I will post flight results.

I assembled and fleww one.... wow. It will do almost anything. Inverted, no problem. Barrel roll, no probem. I would recommend the plane, yet I was flying with the watt-age 9.6v 800mah battery. Good luck

Thanks for the info, I will also try some surpluss lithium ion cells I have. They are 1300 ma. and total 8.4 volts, weigh the same as the 270 7.2 volt GWS pack. If they can dish out 4 plus amps------
Will let you know, should start building real soon now. Looks like a snap to assemble. Till then, John Smith in the LA area. |

So John, have you got your plane out for a fly yet? How is it? I've been advised elsewhere on this board that the e-starter might be a good starting plane for me to get in to the hobby. I'm looking for something with ailerons, that behaves well at slow speed, but that can also do some mild aerobatics.
I've been fooling around for a while with the Electrostreak in the Realflight simulator and find it easy and fun to fly. I wanted to start out with a warbird like the GWS P-51 but was warned against since it's harder to handle. I guess real-life must be quite a bit harder than Realflight. Even the P-51 glow power in the simulator is easy to fly. Let us know how your e-starter performs. Thanks, Jack |

Will do Jack, I have not even built the plane yet. But will get to it soon. I have heard it will do more than moderate aerobatics, should also be a great trainer. I have the p-51 but will build it after the e-starter. Theese GWS kits are great! And more is comming. I just bought another one today, cant remember the name but it is a low wing with ailerons, rudder, and elevator. Will keep you posted, you do the same. Keep the fun in it, John Smith.
