Multiplex Easy Star Float Plane
 

Has anyone tried to turn their Multiplex Easy Star into a belly floater? From the looks of the plane it is possible to put foam wing floats on and seal off the canopy along with the servos. I want to try but my easy star is pretty damaged from previous flights. Here I live right beside a lake and it would be much easier if I could have a float plane that I dont have to worry about sinking.

Toxic - it has been done and quite successfuly too. Just Google Multiplex Easy Star (UK) and search out a site almost dedicated to EZ* called RCsomething or other based in Wales. The guys site also has a swept wing and a Bipe EZ* - better still I'll do the search and post ina few minutes.....

I'm on my 3rd EZ*, all eventually ended up b/less etc. One of the guys on the Australian BBQ and Beers thread (Machette, a madman!!) tried it with floats made from plastic bottles with varying success, mainly wet success!!:D

HEy thanks man. That is SWEET!!! I'm rather thinking of making it the swept wing conversion or the stumpy one now. anyway, Thanks.

I think the consensus was from our experiments on the Aussie thread was, yes it's possible but the floats need to extend well past the wing tips and nose or else it ends up submarining. The other problem was turning on the water became a real challenge as the wingtips are pretty low to the surface the plane tended to spin around if a wingtip touched. Not so critical at very low speeds but moreso when trying to take off and land.
