ParkZone Crystal

Hi

I have a ParkZone spitfire and want to get a
second crystal, FM channel 1 (26.995 mhz)
for another RX in a different plane.

Horizon Hobby/ParkZone says the the TX
will only work with ParkZone RXs. They
said the crystal is hard wired in place.

Others have said as long as the frequency
is the same another RX will work.

The crystal is made by Team Losi

thanks in advance

RE: ParkZone Crystal

Well, receivers come as either AM or FM and will only work with the same type of transmitter. Also, there's the possibility that the pulse width/type may be different from other manufacturers 27 MHz radios.

I'd go along with what Horizon Hobby/ParkZone says just to be on the safe side.

You can always change out the entire radio (tx/rx) system and put in your own. You may have to change out the servos and ESC, too, just like in the Super Cub, but then you'll be able to use different mfgrs equipment.

Just my $0.02.

RE: ParkZone Crystal

You can easily swap out the crystal. If your TX is somewhere between CH1 through CH6, it means it is a 27MHz system. You can get crystals from your local hobby shop or online like tower hobbies.
Replace the RX crystal. You may find the crystals you purchase have larger diamater legs than the ones on your RX. If the ones on your RX are in a plastic soketc - then no big deap. If not, you will need to use a small drill bit
to enlarge the holes in the PCB. Don't worry, if you ever want to go back to the original crystal, you can, just need to use a little more solder.
