What is the trick to launching a GP Hellcat?
Brand new, three launches and three crashes. It is hard to get my hand around it but I give it a good throw and within 10-15 feet it rolls to the right and is doing cartwheels. My trusty Cox Micro Warbird Thunderbolt works like a champ. Couple of things, the plane has the stock power system and I use the GP 650mah battery. I have been flying for about 20 years and this one has not been a champ for me. I looked at planes with wheels and ones without. I'm thinking wheels would have been better, like I should have got a parkzone plane. What techniques does everyone use to hurl this GP gem into the air to get it going??

I don't have one, but it could be torque roll from the motor... try doing a launch with only, say, 1/2 power or less coming out of the motor. You might have to throw it harder to get it to be going fast enough with the lower power setting. Try dialing in some opposite aileron trim, as well.
Good luck. |
