Flyzone Albatros

Received my little Flyzone Albatros Thursday and took it out for a couple of flights this morning. It was dead calm. Good little flyer, though not much umpf with the stock battery (130mah I believe). Came right off the asphalt after a very short run. Lands just fine on the pavement too.

Trims take a bit to get used to on the Tx, but work fine. Stall characteristics are gentle (no tendency to tip stall), and it'll slow down and still keep flying fairly well. It'll be a fun addition to the indoor flying in the small gym our club uses in the winter.

It would only loop after a bit of a dive. Adjustments to get more throw on subsequent flights should help (and a bigger battery). Motor is a bit noisy (compared to my Ember or Parkzone Micro Cub) but I think sometimes the electrics can be too quite when flying in a group.

Not crazy about the tx being used to also charge the battery, but for only $80.00 complete, It's a way they saved some $$ I'm sure. Just noticed that part of the plug has come apart on mine. Hoping a Little glue will fix that.

I'm at least going put some crosses on the underside of the lower wing with a sharpie (bottom of both wings is just white), as it looks pretty naked. I wonder how much weight I'd add by painting the undersides of the wing light blue?

All in all....[sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Hi Lucky dog, I should have mine in a couple of day's and planning on adding flying wire's and doing what you said about the Cross's and wing, I've used Water color's on these micro's (it's very lite paint) might even give the Fuse a wood grain look too, I'll have to see when i get it ;)

I flew mine one time. While flying, it hit a basketball goal at low speed then the floor. The electronics came loose inside, while trying to repair it the wing fell apart and a wire came off the battery plug. I've got a Parkzone Cessna that is three years old that is still flying along with 6 other micros among 40 other planes. The biplane is cheap, but it's built cheap so the value is questionable. I sold it for $30 and won't buy another.

My Albatros transmitter has a range of only 15-18 feet. All batteries test O.K., both in the plane itself as well as in the transmitter. My antenna was folded down (as in so many 2.4 ads), as well as in other orientations, but nothing improved the performance.

Any help?

RE: Flyzone Albatros

I bought 2 to make 1 from tower. First one had the prop and spinner freespinning on the shaft, figure i can fix once with a drop of CA. No sweat, pulled out the second to bind TX since it already had batts and I had a 130mAh ready to go. Opened the second box and found the prop spinner and shaft seperated from the airplane and just laying in the box. Careful search turned up the internal nut that secures the shaft inside. No flying yet. Looks cool. Horrible QC. Maybe I needed 3 to make 1?
