I saw this video and was really impressed. It is the best flying I have seen to date. But I have to admit I'm a little dissapointed, It seems the better I get, I see something like this and realize how far I have to go[]

Last Year at this time I made a goal... To not be afraid of the ground. I've met that goal,
This Year my new goal is to be more precise, I think that will take a lot longer

I met my goal of torque rolls and harrier rolling circles, and that guy had to go and set new ones for me. New goals: one roll rolling circle, inverted harrier, and some other stuff I don't even know the name of.

That's one amazing video, some of the best flying I've ever seen.

Does anyone have any info on the plane and what equipment is in it?

Jurgen Heilig posted that info in another thread on another forum. Its a shockflyer from Ikaurus. The motor is a custom built outrunner made by Holger Lambertus. He didn't mention batteries or radio gear.

I managed to find a website where Holger Lambertus describes how to modify an Iomega drive motor, looked very interesting. Is the Ikarus Shockflyer available in the US? I can't find any info on it on Ikarus' website.

Absolutely... I don't know why it didn't occur to me to put a link in the post when I mentioned it, but better late than never.

Click on the "HIT Motor" link once you're there. I don't understand German, so I used the babelfish translator to view the pages, it's at http://babelfish.altavista.com

You won't have to make your own motor for that kind of bird. Nippy makes motors like that as well as AXI. Outrunners are the way to go. They are all I run on my foamies now.

Yup. They seem to work really well. I made my own 15 gram outrunner, and I liked it so much, I'm going to get an AXI 2808/24 for my next plane. I love the power of my geared razor, but they're more expensive and hard to find.

I saw the video and the guy has some talent, I still challenge him to fly outdoors though!

Billy,

Which of the Nippy or Axi motors would be equivalent in weight and power to the one in that video?

Thanks,
David

Hey guys, check out pg 137 of the Feburary MAN!! It's got me ALL excited! I wonder if the motor they come with performs like the one in the vid?!? If not, i'm sure a brushless would fit the bill!!!

Its a TON easier when you have a 1:3 power to weight ratio. Those guys are the brushless kings. Anyone, with brushless, and some time can fly close to that. -Patrick

Man....i wish I had a brushless coming. So much easier than trying to get IPS and EPS motors to give my that 1:2 ratio. -Patrick

Hi
Excuse me my bad english[:-]

The Link for this Video does not work, that was to mutch for this Server, the dowloadcounter was over 7000 by 13MB = 91GB
There is a new Videolink with a smaler Cut-Video from this. www.fun-fly-team.de/chipsledde.rm (2MB) The Pilot ist Sebastian Lorenz (17)

The Motor is a selfmade CD-Rom with wight 23gr

The Motor have a Stator with 23,8mm x 4,5mm, have 12Magnets 5x5x1,5, an 27turns 0,425mm
This Shockflyer wight is 155gr with 2x350HD Kokam
With the Airscrew 8x4,3 by GWS have this Motor 300-350gr trust
Infos: http://www.rclineforum.de/forum/thre...threadid=43680

My other Motor "Hit-Motor" its to big for this Shockfly http://slope-combat.de/hitmotor/index.htm ,it`s a low-cost fun-motor, sales parts by Ebay (old Comoputerdrive from iomega).

For Hi-Tec i have build a "Doppelwhopper" but its not so easy to build, there are only two CD-Rom Stators, all other parts are selfmade, you can see it by a Video from Alexander Kammerer, he have maked the first Championship place in Germany:
http://rcmania.cz/2003/Movies/AlexKammererTraining.avi (13MB)
