I've flown both
My experience with those planes is that the Morris planes are far superior. One guy at the field has the TT and it flys way too heavy. He stripped it and put it on a severe diet over the winter and took nearly a pound off so now it's better. I flew another buddys Morris the Knife and thought it was really nice. Just my opinion for what it's worth.

Go KNIFE
Hello,
I have a KNIFE with a TT46, stock muffler (with baffle removed) and swinging an APC 12.25 X 3.25 and it will hover with 2/3 to 3/4 throttle and accelerate vertical out of the hover-no problem. I run 10% with an OS8 plug.
I cannot compare it with other planes, but I and everyone that has seen this plane fly is impressed. It will fly real slow, do fast rolls, inverted flat spins, land on the tail wheel and plop the mains on the deck etc.

Mark,
TT funflys are heavy.. ARC ver will be little lighter though..
A morris plane will be much better!
since you are planning to use a MVVS .40, not only will you have to keep it less heavy but u will have to ADD LIGHTNESS!! for it do do good 3D! So I would suggest the KNIFE. Use mini servos if u have them..
strong winds will always push the plane back during hovers...If u still want to keep the plane at one place, try not to be fully vertical....Have fun..
Cheers,
Mayur

Knife rules at 3D.
I have both the Magic and the Knife arf. The knife is MUCH easier to 3D. Hovering is no comparison, the Knife is much easier. The knife has MUCH more rudder authority. Elevators are more stable too. The Magic is about a pound lighter so it will fly slower and you can "throw is around" more.
Both are great planes, the Knife is better at 3D, the Magic is a better fun fly.
You may have trouble hovering with a .40 since the Knife arf is 5.0 lbs with standard gear.

Magic
Mark I'm surprised that you didn't enjoy your Magic 3D. I have had 1 for a year and I will always have one. I think as more people get a Magic it will become more popular than Sticks. If you were to dial one down it would be a great trainer too. Looks like the overwhelming majority of responses favor the Morris VS the TT. I agree that you would be better served with a little more power than a 40.

I have a fun tiger....the covering is to thin and will shatter easily. I recovered mine right away.It is a bit heavy....but it is a great price. Your hobby shop owner is right about the 61. mine was a dog with a 46...I put a 61 on it and it really woke it up (it comes out tail heavy so the 61 just eliminateds the need for nose weight). Mine can hover, flat spin , waterfalls and lands Sloooooooooooooo ect. ect.. Many people do not like it but I consider it a great deal for the money. The morris ARF's are 160 dollars. I have seen this plane go for 70 bucks on E-bay.
My 2 cents

I have owned the TT but I don't own a knife, but I do own the top cap arf. I would buy the knife, over the TT anyday of the week.
Yes, the knife is more money, but like the saying goes, in most cases you get what you pay for.
I am also considering the Magic. But I haven't seen one fly in person, I would really like to fly somebodys so see if I like it.
I have about 6 flights on my menace and love it. I like it better than my topcap arf. The menace is easier to hover then the topcap.
