Flat spins to about 4ft are fun to do but what I really want to learn is how to hover at 4 ft. there isn't too many people hovering that low around here.

If you want to learn to hover low to the ground you need a pizza box. These things are almost an unbeatable learning tool for close to the ground.

I hovered my topcap about a half foot off the ground today. I didn't want to smash up the rudder.

What a rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default Do tail touches count?

I finally got my thumbs tuned to the Madness where I can consistently do tail touches. It's easy to flip up a few feet off of the ground and do it, but the real trick is backing it down from about ten meters up. It is a rush and I still pat my back every time I do it. Now to get to a point where I can touch, rise, touch, rise, touch...

...are we never satisfied? No!!! The learning never stops until the final flight.

Yes, I rather like them. That last one was a little corny, though.

I could tail-touch my Su-Do-Khoi, but had it just low enough to not recover and just high enough to break it when the engine died and whack!

I was flying a friends Top Cap yesterday when it ran out fuel during a low hover. It had just enough altitude to swap ends and smack the ground. Spinner went in the ground all the way to the prop, broke the prop and that was it. It was in the air in 2 mins after a prop sawp and some more fuel...

Default tail touch

If you want to do almost hands free hovering, try a Super Wasp, before this airplane i was able to hover for about 1 minute but after this airplane i'm able to hover the complete 6oz tank (7 Min) close to the ground and i mean close. I can do tail touches, i land every time doing a harrier or tail landings, this thing does climbing flat spins like when in a thermal with a sailplane.

Of course you need to practice a lot but once you get the confidence that you can do it, then you will realize that is easier to do a really low hover than a 20 or 30 feet attempt.
The way i go back wards when hovering is just decreasing one click for 2 or 3 seconds and then a accelerate to stop the airplane and so on ītill i get close enough to hold the hover until i get bored.

This is an amazing airplane.

Default Super Wasp DXF

Hoveralot, could you point me to a working URL for the Super Wasp DXF file? Don Incoll's site is down, and I can't seem to find a mirror anywhere. Thanks!

I have a link but it does not have the wasp link activated but you could download videos and stuff like that.

I have the Sirex Wasp and Super Wasp Plans in my computer and if you send me an email to [email protected] i will send you plans and instructions for the wasp or super wasp.

Instrucctions are in pdf format and i could send it to you in four separate emails if your email has some space limitations.

By the way if someone else needs this plans, please send me and email and i will send them to you.

Next you can see a picture taken from old Don Incollīs web site.

Seems as if you huys have the hovering thing down now try and elaborate on them....take a lawn chair out onto the run way and try to hover to it and set the plane in it or hover to a fence and lay the landing gear onto the top of the fence and let it hang there for a couple of examples. good luck kids!!!!!

You guys should have seen this, it was all laughs after we noticed all it did was break the prop.

Hey Wayne, I added that prop nut you gave me to my Knife and that dude sure does weigh alot. Well the nut and that paint stirrer of a prop. I could tell it wasn't balanced like it was before adding it. Oh well, thanks for the nut and I gotta order me some more APC props.

Tell you guys this too! If you want to learn to hover go fly with Wayne. You'll either learn to hover or take it home in pieces because he surely likes to challenge you on. It was the best damn time I had as I love challenges... However it almost went home in a bag three times.

Default My favorite FF trick

is Elevator to a Harrier to a Tail touch to Torque Rolling down the runway. I did that with my 8 lbs 60SuDoKhoi/YS91AC, which I just sold. Now I just finished my Extase/YS91AC/APC16x4W which should weigh 6.25 lbs. Maiden flight is tomorrow, looking forward to it.
DKjens
PS. I would like to gind some titanium hinges for the rudder, cause them high alpha landings sure are hard on them he he.
