I have a Model Tech Magic with a T.T. Pro 46 with a Mac's header and Mouse can muffler. I have a 12.25=2.75 APC prop and I have high speed a High Tech mini servos. When I try to torque roll the plane will go about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn and then just hangs there. Today I bumped a little bit of high rate aileron when it stopped torque rolling and using this method I am getting consistent one roll torque rolls. Is this the way to torque roll this plane and if not how are you torque rollers out there doing it different from me?

Some planes don't want to TR with just aileron but I don't think the Magic is one of them. The ailerons on mine seem to get it going. I can still only do a few rolls at a time but I'm working on it.


Try:

Calm day. Wind can make it harder to TR.

Pump the throttle, even bounce the plane up and down once or twice. The throttle bursts sometimes get the roll started.

I have tried to TR a Magic and although it hovers nicely, I was not able to TR it more than one turn which it did very quickly and then fell out. I noticed today that my friend's Magic does not hang straight when held by the prop hub. It actually tilts toward the bottom of the plane a bit. In fact, by moving my finger out on the prop it appears that the CG is one inch BELOW the thrustline when viewed from the front. This requires up elevator to be held to keep it straight in a hover, which screws up the TR. I think those stork landing gear are to blame for this problem. I don't think they are helping the model any except to get a short takeoff. If you can get a plane to hang straight and not tilt to the belly or the top, then when you hang it on the prop in flight you'll have an easier time doing a TR. When you hold up elevator in a hover, you're actually pushing the plane along sideways which usually stops a TR with any 3D plane. Also if you have your engine side mounted or inverted this will move the mass of the engine lower on the fuselage and cause it to hang crooked also. I can TR my Pizazz and Diablotin XL continuously. It really helps if you don't have to fight the plane. Try removing the gear for a flight and see if that doesn't help it. If it does help then just add a lower, lighter gear -Tom

Some planes just don't tork roll as well as others you may get it to do more but it will take two things Fuel and Flight time!! Keep trying.
