Default Something Extra Throtttle servo hs 81 or 425 which best?

I hear that many of you use a hitec 81 for throttle.

Is the speed that important so that the hitec 425 is not as good as it is slower.?

Will the 81 be ok for a ys 63 throttle ? or what do you say is best for under $30.00 ?

Thanks, Dennis

Default Don't waste your money

Just use a standard servo for the throttle. Speed is not all that important because an engine can not spin up as fast as the servo can move the throttle. IMO I would not go with the HS81. I personally have had nothing but bad luck with the HS80 series, including the HS81. Even on the throttle, they strip. People like the HS81 due to its reduced weight. You can use a HS225 on the throttle, which will save some weight, but a $10 std. servo will do the job just fine.
My 2 cents!

I recently bought a couple of GWS BP110 Mini servos for throttle duty. Seem to work well. Saves about 1/2 -3/4 oz from a standard servo, and costs only $10. If these hold up well, I'll likely to replace all the standard servos I currently have doing throttle duty and use them for other tasks...

Default Thanks All are great options.

Thanks for all your replys , Ill try the 225's then on throttle as I do have an extra one and buy 605's for the rudder and elavator as Im going to try to build larger ones.

Thanks again, But still hope other's reply with their opinions :-)

For years I've used HS81s (and even HS60s and FMA S90s) for throttle on planes .46-.25 sized and never had a problem.

I use HS225s on combat planes and fun flys for elevator, rudder, and ailerons. 35% more power than a standard servo, 45% faster than a standard servo, better centering at roughly half the weight...and they have a BB on the output shaft. For $23 a pop, they're hard to beat.

I have a .46 powered Fazer that has 100+ 'wring-it-out' type flights with HS81 / HS225 and have never stripped a gear.

Of course, the HS81 and HS225 are available with metal gears if you want to spend the extra cash.
