Hey Dion, I'm down to one elec. schocky that I 3-D in a school gym. Send me a Kat. V-2 I'll test fly it here

in jersey, I'll make sure a large group of club members are on hand to check out this new design.

Doesn't hurt to ask, right.. Can't wait to get one.

Would a .61 FX hover this thing? the .61 hovers my mayber 7 lbs. Ultra stick 60 with limited pull out
That video of Spacey was 6.1 lbs with .91 motor, so you'll be well under 7 lbs.

But if I do get in trouble I'll just get an ultra-thrust muffler. Thanks

I really really hate cheating a plane out on equipment but this is suppose to be my cheap knock around plane. so will standards work if I fly it 3D?I have digital 645's on my UCD if that tells you how I like my equipment top notch for my planes.

Thanks

I don't know about standard servos on this one. I decided to go against all beliefs and put a couple of dead stock standard servos on the ailerons (Body Armor on). Now they are doing the trick but not quite the way we like it for nice and crisp response during pattern type aerobatics. I can feel the sort of laggin response time on them but they have yet to fail and get this! Their JR servos! (Flame suit on). Now on the tail surfaces I used a slight bump up from the standards but still nothing digital or coreless. Just good old really terrible JR Nes-539 servos..Their BB and run around 70oz torque if my calculator is correct. These have no problems though and the rudder and elevator is happy. I want to find some more 539's for the ailerons and swop the standards out to see if it really makes a difference.

We would not recommend standard servos in a plane like this or really any 90 size 3d plane. You'll need 70-90 oz torque servos for good response. Of course you don't need high end coreless or digital but faster servos definately show their stuff in the air.

Yes Mike I am going to agree with you. After this weekend's serious wringing out session with the plane I saw the effects the smaller servos have on the ailerons. It's not a good thing and they are not up to the task. They have yet to fail and I'm trying to get them to but they are having a hard time if the plane is flying more pattern type stuff. Very lagged response for point rolls and stuff. Time for stronger servos for mine. Wish I could afford strong digitals but normal 70oz or so servos are going to have to do.

Gotta couple emails asking about the wing tube and how it's supported inside the wing. Here is your answer. We had the factory donate a wing for the photo ... don't worry, it won't be getting boxed up.

Also we have another little surprise coming in this version Kat 70 V2 and new version of the Kat 46 V2 that all Kat owners will really appreciate. Has to do with wing fairing installation, new improved method which you will like very much. No more fairings to fall off and 30 second installation for both sides. Will have pics real soon.

The wing tubes are VERY nice! I didn't have to do any work on mounting the main wings to the fuselage at all. Everything just slips right in place, all you gotta do is make holes in the covering where they cover the pre drilled holes for the wing holding bolts. The tube is a perfect fit into the sleeve as well. I did a just over half throttle blender with the plane this last weekend to test the strength of the whole system and everything held up. I don't have the guts to pull it at WOT just yet but I might get around to it

Full throttle snaps is also not a problem at all! I tried to get that specifik blender on video and I'm just waiting for my buddy to get the clips to me so I can check if anything made it onto film.

STLPilot, Do you have a time frame for when these will be released. I really miss my Kat 40 and was getting ready to buy a new Kat 70 till I seen this one. I really like this plane with the two piece wing.

Yep, a new kat 40 coming as well with improvements learned from the Kat 70 V2. Cool stuff guys but we can't reveal everything yet! Remember though everyone.........ARF schedules are always very unpredictable! We are doing our best to keep things moving though.

One final design change! This one comes from the mind of Mike Pilkenton. Slot for fairing like h stab. If you own a Katana you will appreciate this. Now you can install the single piece fairing in just a couple minutes and then will no longer fall off. Also check out the new and improved flush fitting. Everything fits nice and tight. The wing bolts and anti rotation pins will guarantee a nice flush fit from the trailing edge to the fairings.

This is the last mod to the design, they are now in production and will be taking orders for it next week.

Good Ol Mike makes a plan again! Nice thinking Mike! That'll speed the build up with another 20 minutes. So the guys will be able to put this together in what? 4 hours now?

Bigal I think Dion was maybe talking about the week after this one. I could be very wrong though so don't go anywhere! You favourite team of entertainers will be right here keeping you glued to your seat!

To keep you going for now I will add a picture. This one is dedicated to my hero Quiqui Somenzini and shows me trying to do the QQ wave. One day I'll find the guts to pull it belly in and a little closer but the wind wasn't helping my attempt on this one. Oh and by the way this was on me and the gal's first date.

I might have some more video to share but my camera man is still in training and things didn't go quite as well as I had hoped. I'll look into it though and decide soon if it is worth sharing. If not we will make another attempt at some better footage on saturday.

Here ya go Al ... they are ready for purchase and will answer some of your questions.

Also I think we forgot to mention that the wingspan is 61.5 inches. This flew the best and gives the widest envelope for engine choices. Weight at 6.25 lbs RTF.

Hey guys, I really want one of these planes, but kind of worried about preordering. May not get it till next summer. Just kidding. I am a little concerned just because of the delays on the 47" stuff. I would really hate to have $200.00 tied up forever waiting on these planes.
Thanks for the info, Bigal

Just to let you know Al, we are dealing direct with the manufacturer on this deal, TMPro. We used Accel to broker the last batch of OMP ARF's. There will be no more second hand information from anyone and our container shipping will be with UPS and customs cleared before they arrive to the states.

So when I tell you the dates, I take full responsibility and can assure you that they will meet the schedule within 10% of the dates that we tell you.

Things are much different for OMP now, we learn from our mistakes and correct.

Mike have you ever done a radio setup after having 7 or so? It's sooo much fun! LOL

I'm bad I know. I just love beer? Not too much wrong with a couple of beers on a Friday night is there?

I like what Benjamin Franklin said about beer... "Beer is proof that God loves us".
