OS 46sf on Fazer ??
I have a spare OS 46 sf and a Fazer ready for an engine. There does not seem to be enough space for the 4oz tank between the engine and leading edge. This is my first fun fly. Should I use this engine or get another. Appreciate your suggestions!!

Thanks for your consideration and good information. I will use the OS 46sf and do the 4 stroke conversion, with the tank on the other side.

tank mounts
On my second Fazer, I opened up the leading edge of the wing, and slid a 6 oz tank in there. Closer to the CG that way, and no, I never ever collapsed the wing. You just have to seal up the area like any tank location in a conventional plane with thinned epoxy or dope, but that's all.. I did use the usually straps to hold it to the fuselage, the wing did not actually support it in any way. Not enough stuff there.
Love them Fazers....

i got a fazer sitting in the box still... waiting for me to get to it.
I will probably end up putting a .46 fx on it and maybe a MCP.
I really should finish this darn ace ultimate. I get distracted too easil...hey look at that.

Fazer
By all means try to fit the .46 FX... My Fazer is flying with a .40 LA and the verticals are... not so hot.
Also, experiment with different props, specially going to larger diameter with less pitch... the Fazer will change as you change props...

KCFlyBoy, Thanks for the info on Fazer engine combo. I've heard of the mousse can muffler before, but never picked up any of the details. Can you point me to an explanation and picture of one?
Thanks again, Neil

OS 46sf on Fazer ??
I did not have a header pipe so I did mine like the Irvine example except I used small diameter brass tube and threaded rod through the center to hold every thing together instead of the heaver large diameter aluminum tube shown. I am sure mine came out lighter than this example.

I plan on using an Irvine 36 with an Ultrathrust muffler for mine, and plan on keeping the nose long. Hopefully it should be a blast.
btw, love the SPAD info!

Outta be cool.... You still might need to cut the nose down... Balance it before you cover to make sure..... Might even want to do a trial balance before you glue in the engine bearers..... just tape everything on where you think it will go and see how she balances... You can cut the nose back if you need to then.

Paul gives good advice. I always tape every thing on before I make final decisions. I did not do that with a scratch built plane when I first started and had to add a couple of oz lead in tail. If I had checked it first it would have been a better flying plane.

OS 46sf on Fazer ??
I inherited a Fazer from my mentor with a Fox 50 on it. He cut the front back to the 4-stroke point and still had to put lead on the tail.
I switched to a os 46FX and removed the lead from the tail. it balanced perfectly but due to the fact I had to glue the fuse with two plates of lite-ply to put it back together.
After all I didn't inherit it in perfect working condition.
He He !! the fuse just behind the wing was broken in two.
It flys great and with a 12X3.375 prop it's nice and slow with great vertical. It goes upward about as good as it goes forward

swlarcham, I'm setting up my fazer with an OS46 set back in the 4stroke position. Thanks for your encouraging comments. I'm looking forward to trying it out. Neil

OS 46sf on Fazer ??
I drilled a hole in the side of the can about 1.5 inched from the back end of the can. I will see if I can post some pix of how I do it. I need a new muffler for my new Morris Knife. KCFlyBoy

OS 46sf on Fazer ??
i set mine up with a 46 SF with the tank on the other side. i wasn't happy with the Cg, however, so I ended up cutting it off twice before i got the response i was after. It was a wonderful plane. i just threw it away last week because it was getting so ugly. it just wouldn't die!

I exhumed my fazer from the basement today, it was resting since 4 years. it was flying with a TT.25
I plan a general overhall, engine upgrade to .46 fx (will cut the nose), complete new covering and also bigger rudder for 3D...
it simply also doesn't want to die......
