Default Topcap spins like a drill bit in hover...

I keep trying to hover that dang thing, but once I get it straight up and down it turns so fast torque rolling there is no way I can keep up!! I have a Saito .72 and a 13x6 prop on it. Balance is pretty far back.

Any Idea's?

Thanks

Its cool isnt it?

Keep at it. Your thumbs will adjust to the speed.
Then when you do it with the Sukhoi you'll think its in slow motion.
The sledge is a little fatser in a TR than the TC

Cool, NO, Ive never seen a vid of one spinning like that!! The sukhoi is slow and managable. I dont see how you guys can touch the tails with it moving that fast!!! Im never gonna get it

Let the nose foward just a little bit...That will stop the rolling, or at least slow it down!

If the airplane is not perfectly vertical, it won't torque roll like that. It's great that you can get it going like that though!

But, if its not vertical wont it keep moving away? If there is no wind anyway?

Thanks

Just a tad...

A smaller lighter prop would help slow the rotation down too. It's not like thrust is an issue...

13x6 MA, 14x4 wood, or a 13x6 wood ought to help...

If you're "punching" or "pumping" the throttle in the hover, that will also cause it to turn. Keep throttle changes small, smooth, and slow.

Try holding in some right aileron, should be able to stop it.

I think any prop with flatter pitch will help a little.....but I guess thats pretty much already been said!

We have a top cap as well and I have found that once I get it in a tr the thing will go half way the right way and then it will do another half to the right ( the wrong way) I don' t get it. I have had other planes do this as well ( seduction ). And usually when I pop it in a hover it doesn't even try to tr but I kinda like that, that way I can bring it down to the ground alot easier. O well it is a blast to fly though.

Speaking of practicing, Ive been using the G2 sim to get used to different angles and all. has anyone found a plane that really handles like a real plane does? Most of them I have downloaded I can TR and hover easily. So its obviously not real...

ANyone?

John,

Try the Simple Flier on G2. Yes its ugly, Yes it needs more of everything but the TR's on it are pretty realistic.
Use the stock one. Dont change anything.

John
another plane to try on G2 is the stock cap 232....dont change anything,,,its very difficult to get it to do it, but once you get it to do 5-6 TR's it will make TR'n at the field easier...I aint near mastered it yet, but the stockcap is helping....Gator

ok, just got done hovering the stock cap 232, and the simple flier, both hover alot easier than my Topcap does I think the cap is harder than the simple flyer, but either way, I can hover both...

That simple flyer is a bear. I have just put it in a hover and then it falls off to the left. I will keep trying!

I just tried the Simple flier, it's a good one! It is pretty realistic, I like it...

I think the Stock Cap 232 is a great one for learning. They all spin too fast, but it get's your fingers moving. If you turn the torque down so they spin about half as fast it's much better.

Chris,

Next time it turns it's back to you pull back on the elevator stick just a tad. Sounds like you might be letting it fall away from "perfect vertical" as it spins around...

I have been practicing on the Ultimate BillyHell bipe. Also the Suki is too easy to hover. I scale them down smaller and smaller as it gets easier.
