Default Finished 1st Profile

Hi all...
Here is my 1st profile, a fun 51. Finished it last night and waiting on the weather to improve for its first flight.

And I wanted to thank everyone who posted info about this plane on RCU and info on TPB site.

Kevin

That looks real nice! Should be blast to fly.

Is that an OS LA engine?
What prop are you going to use.

I've got 2 NIB Tower Extra Specials that if I build will more than likely bash it into the shape of the fun 51 or maybe some other WW2 fighter.

Have a blast and lets hear how it flies!!!

I kew there would be a UT plug some time!!!!

yes, its a 40 LA. I had it in another plane that I had radio problems with. Engine lived, the plane didnt.... As for the prop, its an APC 10x5. It sould be able to turn an 11" prop if I can find one at the LHS.

what does that bird weight. My 1st profile was the extra special. You can't beat a $40 bird. This plane should knife edge all day long. Great looking plane. good job.

Forgive my ignorance, but where do you buy a $40 profile?

Thanks,

Crash Master,

The Tower Hobbies Extra Special and Fun 51 are the cheap ones. They are made by Great Planes and sold under the Tower Hobbies name.

They quit making the Extra Special more than a year ago. When they did it went down to $30 and that is when a lot of us got them. Now the Fun 51 is the only one still available and you can buy it for $45... These little planes do everything. Loops, rolls, harriers, flat spins, climbing flat spins, KE spins, KE loops, quick snaps, and some real easy torque rolls can all be done in one flight!

Mine was 4 lb's with a Pro .46 and all standard servos.

For $45, there is no reason not give them a try! I'll quit now, if I say anything else the Morris guys will give me trouble...

Here is my Extra Special after about 100 flights, pretty ugly compared to ZigKev's. I just retired mine after about 400 flights...

Sorry for the delay, had to go out for its first flight. Got 2 flights on it, and what a cool $45 plane. Had to change props from a 10x5 to a 9.5x4.5. had problems keeping the motor lit with the larger prop.

Not sure on the weight, I'd have to guess its around the 4 lbs range.

And talk about KE, this thing will KE as long as you want and snap rolls are cool. Didnt get to try anything else, but it will slow down to a crawl with no problems. In a stall, it just drops its nose and starts flying again.

I'll have to agree with botlrocketwar, this is a good $45 plane.

I'm hooked, hope to have another in a few days. Just waiting on my TPH number....
