What servos are you guys using? Are high speed ones better? I prefer Hitec servos. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Standard servos are fine...HS 425's would be the minimum I would use...Personally, I am not a big fan of Hitec. Hitec servos seem to hate me...

If you're willing to try something else, I HIGHLY recommend the Airtronics standard servos. They come with bigger servo arms and have 50 ounces of torque compared to 40 of the Hitec.

If you want more speed, go ahead and run 6 volts. It will noticably speed them up...I don't know how Hitec servos react to 6 volts, but Airtronics stuff loves it.

JR 527's and Futaba 3004's are also great choices. Any standard servo that is not Hitec is MY recommendation.

I can't figure out what that field is in your Avator...Where do you fly? Sunchasers?

Hey CAP232CM
I just finished up a Knife and used JR 811 digital BB servos and man what a blast to fly with these servos! Cheap, strong, and precise! Will be ordering more today for a Sledge 540 and a H9 Aresti.

Yes you could! But it would not be as much fun to fly as this set up

Ya know Chuck, I don't even think YOU would use 5 digitals in one of these things, even 4...Then again, you aren't...well...heh.

Then again...It's just money!!

Doug, If you've got the money I guess it would be...I think that kind of defeats the purpose of these little FunFly's though. If I was going to spend all that money, a little .40 size FunFly is the last thing I would flying!

Would you want to bet, say $250, that I'm not running 4 digitals in a profile, or did you mean I'm not as in I don't have a Knife.

I bought 2 of the JR 811s off ebay for $70.00 shipped. Use them on the tail surfaces only. Use standard 537s for ailerons and micro hitec on throttle. Probably total moneywise of $130.00 in servos. It pays to shop around.

I did some shopping around myself...I got about $60 worth of servos in my Sledge.

Chuck, I take that back. You probably do have digitals in your profiles...LOL

Only in the Sledge and OMP540...I don't just slap them in everything!

And you owe me $250X2.

We didn't shake on it...

Back to the subject (or lack thereof)...

If you guys flew an airplane without digi servos and then with them, without being told, would you really notice a difference? I'm talking about these little planes here...Is it really a big difference?

Default JR 3421's

Hi,
I am using the JR 3421 mini digitals with the metal gears with great success in my Knife. I tell 'ya...what power for a such a tiny thing...and strong too! Be careful playing with them, they will pinch the $#!^ outta 'ya if you're not careful! lol . I am using one of the original Duralite packs in mine which is 6v, and the servos are putting out around 80 oz/in. ...somewhere thereabouts. Plane flies real nice! Lots of fun!

Well I have Profile planes set up both ways( With digitals and with standard servos) and I'm really enjoying this Knife with the ds811. Now I have ds8411 on all surfaces on my 33% Cap and do not feel the difference as much as I do on the Knife. Possibly because the Cap weighs 27 pounds?

One of the 3D master Pro Bros flew my Sledge in Houston. He had been on the sticks for about 5 seconds and the first words he said was, "Hey, you have some good servos in this thing". So he could tell, he noticed it right off. I never mentioned the servos (or anything else about it) before I handed him the TX.

Brian,

You may have more expirence than you think with regard to a Knife with digital servos. You've flown mine! It's got coreless on ailerons and digital on rudder and elevator!

Nobody is a bigger fan of good equipment than I am. But I must say that I have a hard time believing that your plane would do any better with a better servo <grits teeth>.

I'd say that repeatedly catching and releasing your Slege while in a hover is a pretty good test! What you really need is a better set of landing gear!

CYA out there soon!
