OMP 540 Engine.

I was originally going to put a TT.46 in my OMP 540 that I'm using in my Somethin' Extra. Then I thought I could just buy another TT. Then my dad suggested why don't I go bigger. So now I'm confused on what engine I should get. Should I stay with TT .46, or go with bigger 2-stroke or 4-stroke?? What would you guys recommend and what brand of each kind????

More power is always fun, but I have a TT .46 on mine and it's awesome. 12.25x3.75 APC and it blast out of a hover. I'm running no baffle too, lots more power available with the right pipe.

I'd say the Pro .46 is a great choice for anything like the OMP.

I've got one in my Sledge and have more than enough power for everything. Pull out from a hover is good. Your OMP will be lighter... I am a BIG fan of the Thunder Tiger engines. This is probably number 13...All have been perfect, all have ran great, and ALL have taken my abuse! Oddly, they have all been used engines too! ;)

If you're going to be buying another engine though, and want the BEST, I don't think too many can argue against the YS .63...

It's weighs 2 ounces more than the Pro .46 and I'll guess it can produce twice as much thrust. At least, it seems like it!!

Depending on how important 2 ounces is to you, the Saito .72 might be the best choice.

I really don't think you can go wrong with any decent .40-.50 2 stroke or .70 4 stroke...

I started with a m v v s .49 then switched to a OS .46 with a pipe and a 11.5 x 4 prop on my OMP.

I run a Satio 72 on my OMP. Really like the 4 stroke power!

Barto, OMP stands for Ohio Model Products. They make some nice plane kits. I am not sure of their website but I know others on here can provide you with that.

Also the YS63 will turn about 500-1000 RPMS than a saito 72
