correct Nitro??
what is the guage to running the correct Nitro?
right now I fly 15% cool power in a TT .46 pro. seems to be happy. also have tried a gal of wildcat 15% doesnt seem to make a difference. I hear some engines do not like anytihng above 5%? I have a mvvs .40 that I never fly because I dont think it makes enough power. would lower nitro or head shims make any difference? should I try lower nitro in my TT? btw, 12.25 x 3.75 apc - never tacked it though what say you guys? thanks Hubb |
RE: correct Nitro??
I'd leave the nitro alone on the TT 46
But, IMHO.......NO GREATER THAN 5% NITRO for the MVVS. Anything greater than that in the MVVS and it will not run worth a rip. BTW, I used a cold plug in mine. The MVVS motors are designed to run in Europe where Nitro is like gold. So therefore, they run best on 0% to 5% Nitro. |
RE: correct Nitro??
A good rule of thumb is that most Japanese engines like nitro, most Euro engines don't. There are always some exceptions, but for the majority this will be the case.

RE: correct Nitro??
thanks guys!,
I will keep running the 15% in the TT and will try some low nitro in the mvvs before I give up on it. Hubb |
RE: correct Nitro??
Yup, Rossi and MVVS are factory timed for 0% FAI fuel. 5% to 10% are the max they will run. Head shims will make it run on higher nitro, but it will not make any more power.
The rule of thumb that hroachen said is a good one. |
RE: correct Nitro??
Im am running OS, Thunder Tiger, And Saito engines and i am using S&W 15% and 25% nitro. Works great.
