Model Tech magic

Hi,

I have a magic and an OS .32SX. The specs for the plane say .36-.46 but when i did my research, the .32 i have has more out put than an OS .40LA. The .32 is 1.2 BHP at 18,000 and the .40 is 1.0 BHP at 15,000. should the engine i have be fine? They both weigh the same. Thanks in advance for the help.

It should fly the plane. The only issue that comes to mind is that rated hp is at 18k and I for one do not run my engines past 10 to 13k. With a 12 inch prop on there that engine probably won't see 18k rpms either. This is not necessarily a bad thing. I run a Thunder Tiger GP 42 on my Magic. It is rated at 1.1hp at 14k. I run a Zinger 12x4 prop on it atm and it pulls the plane around just fine for sport flying, Harrier, Hover, flat spins, etc. Full throttle is not used often, just for pull outs and speed pick up for vertical snap rolls or such. I am planning to try an 11x3 on it when I come across one handy to see if the throttle resolution and rpm pick up works out compared to the smaller thrust disc. I am going to guess that a .32 size cylinder might be a bit low on torque for high alpha slow flying with snappy throttle response but the weight sure sounds nice for a Magic. Overall, I would try it and see how you like it. It should be plenty at least to get used to the plane and see if you want more power later. Impress your friends with how well it flies on a small engine instead of one bigger than spec :)

I had a TT36 Pro on mine with an APC 11 X 3 prop and it worked fine.

I don't know what the magic weight is, I fly the magic extra with a TT pro 46. 11-4 APC the plane weight is 4lb and has 9lbs of thrust @ 16500 it does everything you can think of (Harriers, hover, climbing flat spins, tail touches. if you can think it it will do it, me myself and I think that the TTpro 46 is the best engine for ANY 40 size plane that you want to use a 2 stroke on

I'm using the OS .32 with zinger 12-4 wooden prop on 20% nitro. hitec HS-81MG's all around and a micro receiver and 6v battery . I also have made a few mods to the tail including larger elev and rudder. Removed the wing tips and made the wing bolt on rather than rubber bands. RTF weight less fuel is 3.5 lbs.

this combo is a blast to fly and hovers about 3/4 stick.
