Pull Pull Wire.. Source?
 

I just saw a thread on this, but I couldn't find it. Someone was saying steel fishing leader wire worked great for this. What pound test works best. Thanks.

Or go to the Walmart Fishing Dept. and get some 30 # (or less) leader material and crimping eyelets.

Sounds good Ray,

We just got a Gander Mountian store here in town. They should be able to set me up, if not I'll be off to Walmart.

I get 18# test leader wire from Bass Pro shops... I've also used the 28# test

i use fishing trace wire, the plastic outer is great as after you've crimped it you twist the end around the line a bit, then wave a lighter under it to melt it together.
high pound strenght wire is ok, but think of it this way ( what with the AMA trying to save every blade of grass ) what do you want to break? servo grears, horns? or the wire?? personaly i use wire rated just above my servos pulling power ( x1.5 at the most ). this means you can deal with blow back ok, but any hard crunch should snap the line before anything else goes..
thats my theory anyway.

I USE 28LB BREAKING STRAIN,
THE REASON?
THATS WHAT THE MAN HAD IN THE BOX,
MY THEORY ON THIS IS THAT THE IMPACT SUFFICIENT TO RIP THE RUDDER OR ELEVATOR OFF THE AIRFRAME WOULD PROBABLY BE SIDE WAYS THUS SLACKENING THE TRACE IN THE PROCESS,
ITS THE SAME AS SITTING AT THE BACK OF THE AEROPLANE BECAUSE YOU DON`T HEAR OF ONE BACKING IN TO A MOUNTAIN,
BUT IT WAS A NICE IDEA !;)

I used the kevlar wire they had at my LHS. I find this easy to use and it yields wonderful results. On a hot day, I can notice slack in the steel wires, and the kevlar wires are unaffected by temperature which is wonderful. It's 30 feet for $10.

i back mine into mother earth all the time ;)
and if the line goes slack one side it goes tight the other, the slack side cant do anything to the servo.
anyway, as it happens the line i do have is much stronger than my theory, but like you said, thats what he had. i was thinking next time i have to buy a reel

HI GOINSTRAIGHTUP! I use the stuff called SPIDERLINE that's sold as fishing tackle. I run a full loop of it from one side of a hardwood dowel control horn, through the outer holes on the servo arm, and back to the other side of the control horn, and tie it off with a "movers knot". I notch the servo arm on either side of the hold down screw, so I can trap the line under the screw head, and so the line has zero chance of jumping out from under the screw head. This set up is easier than messy with cable.

THERE`S A LINE FOR CARP FISHING CALLED DECRON, ITS A WOVEN THREAD THATS ABOUT 15-20 POUND B/S THAT WOULD SUIT OUR NEEDS,

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up using 40# test stainless steel wire leader (nylon coated) even made in USA. It looks just like the wire that is included in the Morris Pull Pull systems except a litle heavier.

I have used the style where the thread / wire goes around the servo arm screw to tighten it up on my coro planes. It does work good.

I will keep all this info in mind for my next application.

Kevlar or Spectra kite line works great for most applications.

Very strong. 1 to 3% stretch and lighter than steel.

You get it in spools and is very cheap in bulk ($15 or so for 200 feet).

I like 200 lb kevlar for nearly all my glo power stuff, but it's way overkill. Many different weights and lengths available from kite shops (Hang em High fabrics or "Into the Wind")

Be sure not to get dacron or nylon, as that has too much stretch for pull pull.
