severe cg problem
 

Need some help from you pro bros. Gp 540 Extreme my first profile and Ihave a bad cg problem. Standard servo's in rear, 46 Tower all the way to the front of the beam and I still need alot of weight in the front to get ballance. What did Ido wrong? Anyone else have this prob. Calls for standard servo's in rear, minimal epox on tailfeathers, batt and receiver are on spar. I think I could put a 75 ST on this thing and still be tailheavy. What is going on. Please help

Move the rear sevos more forward? Like behind the wing. Is it possible?

Put battery in front?

well buddy tail heavy with profiles isnt a bad thing....the reson it is tail heavy is because thats how it is designed. fun flys fly better and do more aerobadicts if their tail heavy....if it bothers you that much can u move the motor forward at all? john

John, Engine is to the front of the beam. I am just going by the recomended cg.

If it's just a bit behind recomended CG, just try it out. What is a lot of weight? If it's an ounce or 2, put it on, fly it, and slowly take it off 'til it's to your likeing. Pasty is right, tailheavy is good, to a point. And Manufacturers CG are always conservative!

Is this the Goldberg 540? This kit is building a rep as building out tailheavy. In any case, most likely, you have done nothing wrong. A few more precise details would be helpful yes like how much is alot of weight? and what cg are you making :) As for the CG Extreme Edge 540 profile, I have one and am currently using the front end of the specified cg range 4 3/4in. I also say that boy it sure did take "alot" of weight to get it to move up there from the rear specification. I have 1 pound of motor hung out on the very tip of the beams also. I have added 1 1/4 oz of lead right on the nose on the bottom fuse length. For continuing fine adjustments I am moving the battery pack fore n aft as desired. I do recommend that you have this plane a bit tailheavy. I find the flying personality of it much more suitable than the nosediving turns it tends to make if noseheavy. I am beginning to think that they did design it this way purposely in order to accommodate the "lets put a weedeater motor on er and see what it'll do!" crowd ;)

Chig, That is exactly what I did. Moved the pack forward. Still back from forward cg but better. I'll just put in minimal throw in elev and go from there. Thanks for the input.
