MINI 3D HELP -

yesterday I was flying my mini 3d and broke the stock motor mount- I'm running a norvel .25 on it and got a little careless landing and the prop touched the ground and broke the mounts- If any of you are using a .25 size engine and aftermarket mount please post a pic if you have one- and also any suggestions that you might have if you had to do it again- thanks

Alex,

I think some guys who are using .25's sawed off the supplied mount flush with the firewall and used a Dave Brown (or similiar) mount screwed into the firewall..

RE: MINI 3D HELP -

I don't have to worry about sawing the mounts off flush cause that's where they broke!!!! just a small amount of sanding and it will be good to go- I thought about the DB mount and just epoxying a piece of 1/4" ply to the back of the fire wall and mounting it like that- thanks for the reply-
I knew it was only a matter of time before something happened with that mount and a norvel .25- there was a lot of wind yesterday and I came in to land and kind of stalled a harrier landing and the prop touched the ground and the motor fell off and was lying there- the plane was sitting upright and dosen't have a scratch on it- just a minor repair-

How are you liking the plane?

RE: MINI 3D HELP -

I like it a lot- I have to say that I have not really flown it enough to find out what it can do- I have been trying to start a burrito for about a month and also have had a goldberg 540 that I just finished and a Morris the Knife- and I'm getting ready to start on a OMP gs540 edge- so, I've been too busy acquiring profiles to fly them- I have been flying a lot in the last few weeks as the weather has been a lot better- I did get some awesome flat spins out of it- I set the flaps to a down position and it will flat spin so nice- also does good harrier flight-
where do you have your cg set???? I had mine at the back edge of the main spar---- is that far enough back?? thanks

My CG is right behind the blue stripe on the wing.

RE: MINI 3D HELP -

well,I think I've got it fixed- added the DB motor mount - this is much more substantial than the plywood mounts- I do wish that more thought had been put into the firewall/ servo tray- especially in attaching the firewall to the fuse- I'm going to attach it with a few blind nuts instead of the suggested servo screws- the firewall could be a slight bit thicker too- I'll post some pictures when I get finished-

I'm building one right now. I'm really impressed with the way it's built. It also feels super light. I wish the pink was any other color but it's still very cool. I'm going electric with mine.

Billy-
I flew mine again yesterday with the new motor mount and stuff- It was dead on...... no trimming needed and I think I got a better right thrust on the engine with the Dave Brown mount- it seemed to hover better - well, it did everything better- You should have no problems with the mount running electric- and I will state again to be fair to ExtremeFlight that they warned me about the stock mount and a .25 engine- please post some pics when you get through-
