EF Edge Set-up

I have about 10 flights on my EF Edge now. I am having one problem. When I do a parachute, the plane snaps forward and to the left. It settles into the elevator for a second then snaps out. I have 45+deg of elevator throw. The only thing I didn't try yet was mixing in the ailerons. On my OMP 65" Yak, I have the ailerons come up with the elevator. That plane does them rock solid. I have my CG at 1" past the main spar. My EF Edge does great inverted climbing flat spins though.
Thanks,
Craig

Hey Craig,

Try a little less elevator throw. I know that sounds crazy but I think it will help with what you are seeing with the parachutes.
Mines does them good with less than 45 degrees of travel on the elev.

Thanks Wayne. I will give it a try.

We met at the first Internet Fly-in right?

Yep. I was at the first Internet Fly in. I also saw you fly at Manteno. You did a great job. I was maybe thingking of coming down there some weekend again. Just trying to learn everything with the profiles before I go to a big plane. Getting there slowly.

I'm in Manteno all the time flying with Larry.
I'll let you know next time I am heading up there.

Cool. I'm about 1/2hr from there.

Craig, if you mix up ailerons (aka spoilerons) with the up elevator, that will help it in many respects to making a prettier parachute.

RE: EF Edge Set-up

Jeff,
I have it set up, but haven't tried it yet. My OMP 65" Yak likes the spoilerons also. With my Yak, I almost leave the mix on all the time. There are a few manuevers where it doesn't help. I am going flying tonight and will try it.
Thanks,
Craig

RE: EF Edge Set-up

Craig, I could write a lot about this but I hate to type that much. Lets just say this, each plane has its own personality. You must try the plane with spoilerons, without spoilerons, with more elevator with less elevator. All these scenarios must be tried to find what you like. It takes time, most are not willing to tinker with the setup to get it right. When I suggest a setup in my manuals, it is exactly how I fly the plane. That does not mean you will like it or get it to perform as I do. This is a big topic, bottom line "there is no magic setup that will work for everyone. Gosh, how was I able to keep it this short. RE: EF Edge Set-up

I'm still trying to find it's sweet spot. I tried more elevator, less elevator, spoilerons, moving the cg back. MAybe Wayne can hook me up next time he is in Manteno. I thought I was getting pretty good at all this 3D stuff until I flew my EF Edge. I can do a lot with my OMP 65" Yak, but having trouble doing the same stuff with my Edge.[>:] My Yak was making me look better then I was. :D

Craig,

I may be in Manteno this wednesday or thursday during the day.
Will you be able to make it there one of those days for the afternoon?

RE: EF Edge Set-up

Wayne,
I should be able to take one of those afternoons off. Let me know.
Thanks,
Craig

Cool.

We are waiting on a buddy of mine to finish up his CA 2.6M Yak. He should have it done tomorrow or Wednesday. We are going to test fly it at Larry's.
I'll let you know.
