Tuned pipe Question
Hello all,
I have a Morris Knife with a Super Tiger 45. I just bought a Mac's tuned pipe for this engine. I have two questions. 1. I have been told to ask here where to drill the pressure tap, because the location is important? 2. What prop would you guy's recommend for the combination? I have had this plane for a few weeks and it fly's great!! I hope the pipe improves it's performance. Keith |
Tuned pipe Question
Walrus,
you have submitted some very good questions. Ans. to question 1 is go to this link http://www.macspro.com/pressure.asp Ans. to question 2 is an APC 10-6 would be the recommended size for this engine and tuned pipe combo. Take into consideration that MACs Products do extensive testing to get the right combination, and I believe they got the best results using the prop size that I just mentioned. Hope this helps... good luck |
Tuned pipe Question
I think you would be happier with the 11-4 apc. You will get faster throttle responce and more thrust.

Tuned pipe Question
I would think a 10-6 would be to small. I would be scared it would turn up to hard and Lock it up. I could be wrong. I would go with an 11 something or even a 12 something.................John

PROP
We have run the APC 11.5x4 on the ST45 stock. With the header and tuned pipe, pending on your envirnoment (location, temp., altitude, etc.) you may be able to get away with the APC 12.25 x 3.75. Definitely stay away from the 10X6. The pitch is too high for a Fun-Fly, and its load factor is a little on the low side (LF=26, it should be 27-28) for that motor. The 10X6 would be fine for a stock ST45 without the header and pipe, but you would not want this prop on a sport plane, not a Fun-Fly.
Hope that this helps. Kevin :D |

Tuned pipe Question
Thanks to everyone who responded. Looks like I will have some time to figure out what I want to do. I was Flying yesterday and the right elevator half came off. Now I got some serious repairs to work on. Kinda hard to fly with just rudder and aileron's. Well at least it's repairable!!
