Engine for Mojo
I'm wanting to know what the best engine for the Mojo is? I'm thinking about an Irvine .53, but they're rare. So what engine is the best?

RE: Engine for Mojo
I'm putting a Magnum .52 2-stroke on mine. I loved my OS 50sx but this Magnum is stronger AND only 79.99 a few weeks ago thru Tower.

RE: Engine for Mojo
After running the new YS63S on my EF edge all summer I am leaning towards that engine for everything. But you must be able to swallow buying the 30% nitro for best performance. Jeff W.

RE: Engine for Mojo
I have a Mojo framed up and about to cover. I am running an OS46 FX on my Burrito and a YS 63 on a UCD 46. I am thinking about a new OS46AXfor the Mojo. Or do I need the OS 50? I may shuffle the YS to the Mojo later.

RE: Engine for Mojo
I have 2-OS.46ax's, 1-OS.50sx, and 1-Magnum XLS.52a. The .50sx is NOT worth the money. The ax's pull nearly as well and the magnum pulls the best by far and surprisingly is also the cheapest.
I always used to think that you get what you pay for but the magnum has now changed all that. Dave |
RE: Engine for Mojo
I also have a Magnum 52XLS. I have been tinkering with that sucker for 6 mos and still barely get it to transition without dying. It doesn't matter how hard it pulls if it won't run right. I researched the heck out of that engine before I got it. It seemed everyone loved it. Then right after I got mine lots of posts popped up about it running rich in midrange and stumbling on transition. Some run fine. There are all sorts of homespun remedies. Today I read where a guy re-tapered his low speed needle and fixed his Mag. I want an engine that runs right as received - no home development program required.

RE: Engine for Mojo
Mine runs just like my OS engines do. It transitions and pulls perfectly. It also pulled my twist (RIP) out of a hover with much more authority. I used a 12.25"x3.75" APC prop on 10% fuel with the remote needle valve.

RE: Engine for Mojo
Well my mojo's up and flying with the .52xls "magnum" and it rocks. I love the combo. I have a macs pipe and the already mentioned 12.25x3.75 prop. It pulls out of a hover great. I still want to try a wood prop to see how it flys out of a hover with the quicker transition from the less weight of the wood prop. Mine runs just fine and is damn strong. By the way the mojo is nose heavy and is still easy to hover. I can do a torque roll either direction. I am excited about getting is balenced right and trimmed just so. It looks to be one of the funnest planes I will have every had.

RE: Engine for Mojo
ORIGINAL: thieke How heavy is the mojo The MoJo can come in sub 4# very easily with standard servos and a 720 Mah NiMh pack. I have seen 40 of these in the sub 4# range with everything from a Saito 72, to an OS46 AX. Great plane! Just build and fly the snot out of it. N. |
