Flutter on my magic.

I keep thinking that i hear a flutter on my magic. I have looked this thing completely over for several days after flying it off and on and cannot find anything loose. The only thing that looks like it might be cauing it would be an aileron servo. I am running futaba 3004 BB servos. Could it be that the servo isn't holding center strong enough.
thanks
Chunk

flutter

I have seen this plane fly full throttle with a 46fx all day.
power dives and all. and it didn't flutter. see if you can make it flutter close to you so you can try and see what is doing it. be carefull though. enducing flutter can be dangerous.

What size are your aileron linkages ? If they are 2/56 you might consider changing to 4/40.These will be stiffer and help prevent flutter.

Yeah they are 2/56. What servo's are most of you running in your funfly's. Are futaba 3004's strong enough?

Check the covering, mine was lose on the stab and it was buzzing. I though my was fluttering, but it wasn't just lose covering.

Also check how much of a gap there is between your TE and your aileron. You might want to seal them up with monokote or packing tape. Definately pass an iron all over the plane, and youre going to have to do that on a pretty routine basis. The covering doesnt like to stick after a while. I fly mine at full throttle quite a bit, and do full throttle blenders, snaps, lommies, spins, etc, and do not have a flutter problem. I am running stock 3003's and the stock linkage on my ailerons and havent had issues yet.
Good Luck
Steve

I sealed all of the hinges from the get go. It has scraped the asphalt runway many times in stalled flat spins and hovering, so it is a good chance it is the covering. Thanks for the advise guys.

Flutter on my magic.

Mine started fluttering yesterday, after a particularly harsh entry into an attempted blender.
(I call it the "blunder". I'm making new names for all the hottest moves, since I
can't do the real ones, yet. I was worried the blunder was gonna be the wing-Ender ;) )
I checked, and couldn't really find anything wrong or loose afterwards, so I took off again.
It finally stopped, but on the next low pass, I had blue trim hanging from the stab.

I stopped and cut it off... and checked the other side. It was beginning to lift
a little, as well. Sure enough, two flights later, the flutter returned... the trim on
the other side had come loose, between the rudder and the red trim on the stab.
Slicing IT off made the flutter go away again.

My wheels also emit something like a flutter sound, but I hope to remedy that today.
(They're far too loose on the gear. Gonna shim them up a bit.)

Chris's "sorta 3D" dictionary:

Blunder
Waterfowl
Hairy'er
Stork roll

i may try flying mine without the gear this week to see if it helps the vertical balance of the plane. It seems mine is pitching toward the gear when hovering, and the balance point is about 1/2 inch away from the thrustline. In laymans terms, it means i gotta keep pullin back on the lil stick thingie when hoverin, which reduces control and elevator effectiveness. I'll let you know how it goes. I really dont want to replace the stork gear, I love having the springy rebound effect on flopped landings.

I have been messing with the wheels on the gear also. I have been using a piece of fuel tubing and snugging it up against the wheels. Works for a couple flights then they need to be pushed in a little again. It's a cheap fix. And C_Watkins, instead of your stork roll, i'm getting more of a dork roll.
