Flaperons or Differential Ailerons?
 

I have a Goldgberg Ex-Treme 330 and am at the point of setting up my control surfaces. Do you guys set up your profiles with Flapeons or differential ailerons OR BOTH. I have a Futaba 9C and I know you can't use both at the same time, but is this what you do? Set the plane up with both and just put them on different switches or what?

I think most use flaperons. If you need differential ailerons to correct poor rolling you can adjust the endpoints to make the plane roll straight. I also use spoilerons but not it the truest sense of the term. I use the flaperon mix to make the ailerons go opposite direction of the elevator and spoilerons to go the same direction as the elevator. I usually start at 50% mix and adjust from there. Be very careful when first experimenting with these mixes. They can make the plane do some weird things! Personally, I'd do without them till you get very comfortable with it. I have damaged several planes due to having spoilerons on and not realizing it till too late. Spoilerons make it much easier to harrier. Once you get the corrections down you can leave them off and harrier with less risk. Spoilerons also help with elevators and for some planes, walls.

Thank, I got to thinking about it and realized that if I need differential ailerons, I could just set that up through my flaperon setting. Am I right?

You are right. On the Flaperons screen you set one rate for up aileron, lower rate for down, each side separately. I just did a Kat40 with 120 up and 80 down. That was my first readjustment, a bit more than what I set up to start with.

Use Flaperons most definately. I like to set the endpoints so that both sides match in up and down movements and then assign a three position switch to act as flaperons in the down position and spoilerons in the up position. In the flaperon mode the ailerons move opposite the elevators and in spoileron mode they move in the same direction as the elevators. I program about 30% mix for these functions although every plane reacts differently so you will need to play with the settings for your model.

The settings that you described goes right with the 47" edge 540 ?
My radio is a Hitec Eclypse 7 and I am at the real beginning of the fun fly
Please. can you give me some tips about settings?

I'm positive the Hitec 7 can set up these functions. I have a Hitec Prism 7 which was the predecessor and it would set up both modes ok. Look at the manual for your radio and look for "flaperon" premix function. the right aileron is usually plugged into channel 6 and then you need to set the direction and throws so they both act as ailerons and flaps. You'll need at least two P-mixes on your radio to set up for mixing the surfaces with the elevators.

Warning! Be sure to read what Matt said on his post! If you forget the mix is on Bad things will happen.

I know and I am out a very nice 65" Yak for using the "CRASH MIX" we are talking about.

Scott, did you lose the silver, mustang looking Mojo? I liked that one real well. I lost my EF Edge using crash mix as well.
My condolences. My Mojo that lost half wing is almost done. It's actually as done as what I was flying it in Memphis but it still needed more graphics then too. I should finish it up this weekend.

I need to take it out of the fleet for maintance but its so much fun I just keep flyin it.
