Magic 3d
Is the Model Tech Magic a good 3D Plane? It dosen't look like it will knife edge will it?

RE: Magic 3d
Might be ok for hovering but doesnt 3D that well.....anything using rudder sucks...
|
RE: Magic 3d
it is a hoot for hovering, etc. and fun to fly in really small spaces....
but KE? Not a chance! But it IS fun!:D |
RE: Magic 3d
What about the magic extra or the simply magic?

RE: Magic 3d
The trainer that I don't use much has a OS LA 40 on it and I was thinking it might be fun to put that motor on a Magic for a kick around plane. I know it wont be a power house but every on at our field said that, for a LA it pulls my Avistar around fast, and to them it seems strong. Has anyone tried a LA 40 on a Magic? and what prop would I use, if I go this way.

RE: Magic 3d
I have a magic with a os 40la and a 46la. Dont expect alot of vertical, but still is plenty enuff to have alot fo fun and fly it well. Tim

RE: Magic 3d
Here's a good rule of thumb: If it says "3D" in the name of the plane... it won't. Funtana .40 3D, U-Can-Do-3D, Spirit 3D, and on and on. If you want to learn to 3D with a .40 size plane, there are really only 2 choices, Swany's Burrito, which I recommend, or the TuffLite 4D, which I have heard (from guys who KNOW) flies great and is tough as nails also.Or just get the flavor of the month 3D ARF and wonder why 3D is SO HARD TO DO. Then dork it once and throw the pieces in the trash and give up on the whole 3D thing, like a couple thousand other guys have. :D

RE: Magic 3d
I have both the magic and the magc extra, and both are fun as hell to fly.My magic will knife-edge,but it's ugly.the magic extra does it way better, but has quite a bit of pitch coupling.and for me at least,is much easier to hover.Your .40 will hover both, but just barely.Try an 11x4 APC.Hope this helps!

RE: Magic 3d
Thanks
I have 3 profiles now and just was trying to think of something to do with that motor on my old trainer. Because my son gets bored with the trainer and now I cant get him to go to the field. But he is not ready for a full 3-D plane.I thought the magic might be a fun step for him (maybe fun for me to). |
RE: Magic 3d
Magic would be fine for that. I was under the impression you were wanting to learn 3D. Or you could set him up a profile with reduced throws, too. My burrito and Mojo are very docile at low speeds, not hard to fly at all. You just have to fly them all the time, unlike a trainer, where you can watch everybody else fly and let the plane fly itself.:D
