47" Yak-54 P ARF
 

I finished assembly and flew my yak today. Plane flys great. I was using a tower hobbies .46 with 11 x 7 prop, but needed more thrust. I didn't have any other size prop with me. It did slowly climb from hover but needed more. What size prop would you suggest.

Try a APC 12-4 ..I'm running it on my 47 inch yak ...but I'm also using a os 50 ...i like the 12-4

Dude! Your waaaaaaay over propped for that bird! You should start out with an APC 11.5x4. experiment form there either up or down. 11X7 IMHO is not what you want.

WAYYY to overpropped. Kinda like starting a car in 4th gear. the APC 11.5-4 or the 12-4 would work for you. The tower is not a powerhouse, but a good motor none the less. I would try the 11.5-4 first.

Thank you for the replys. I will try all of props sugested. I was in a hury to fly before it rained and only had one prop with me. I'll be more prepaired next time. Thanks again

I'm suprised nobody said APC 12x6. [X(]

I used to use the APC 12-1/4x3-3/4 and I burned out the berring on my OS FX 46 two times and one time on my OS SX50. After the engine was replaced by OS three times, they asked me to use the 12x6 and never had a problem after that.

By the way the Yak is from OMP www.ohiomodelplanes.com When I took the controls for the first time, A Smith asked me to do what I wanted with it but I did not have the extra power to get on the deck, and Mr. A Smith did not have an extra pair of underwear to change[:'(]:D. Let's see if the weather permits this coming weekend maybe I could sneak out of the house and get some video for you guys.

I was told that OMP does not have any more of the 47" Yak-54 in stock. They will be out for a while. Does anyone know of one that is for sale NIB (i.e. hobby shops, guys that bought one and now want something else)?

They look great and would like to pick one up.

The YAK ARFs are sold out but we have kits still available. Also a 12-6 is WAY too much prop for a .46 engine. The preferred props as used by thousands on these engines are the 11.5x4 or 12.25 x 3.75.
