Profiles in the U.K.
Anyone know where I can get a profile other than the Thunder Tiger GP200/Extra in the U.K. ?
Morris Hobbies don't supply over here. Which is a shame because I would buy a Top Cap , and Hots Hot straight away. I'm just not particularly keen on paying $30+ for delivery from U.S. Any help appreciated. |

Sounds like it would be worth it to get a couple Top Caps across the pond!

Judging from the response, sounds like that may be my only option...

I've been looking too for Morris Suppliers over here as I really want a su-do-koi or topcap, but as you say you can't get them. I managed to acquire a Balsa Nova 40 2nd hand and its fantatsic. If you want to put an order together then I'm up for it if the postage is cheaper and they can garauntee that they arrive unbroken (or replace damaged parts). And if anyone else wants to join in thats fine with me too! |

You want arf's? The Morris planes are easy to build from plans imho
|

I've got a SpinSation.. its a copy, called Bug from Handy Systems, not seen one since i got mine tho.
Don Incolls Wasp is also easy to get hold of in plan version, but come on boys, these are yank toys, how hard can it be? build one side of the fuz, forget the other and a Ice Cream for a wing section.:D That Balsa Nova is quite a bit of kit, same guy that gets the IFO's has them, whats the name.... Ansa or sommit |

Ansa went bust some time ago, and now Morris kits in the UK are impossible to get hold of. There was talk of some other company getting them imported but I think thats fallen thro'.
I would like to get hold of either a su-do-koi, or topcap or maybe Sledge arf when it comes out. And yes Balsa Nova 40 is awesome fun mine has Rossi 53 with full length pipe - not 3d capable but hovering and TR's not a problem. |
I got an idea
Here is some 'food for thought'. I will be more than happy to package up multiple kits in one box and ship them all together. This would help on shipping cost. I realize that it costs more to ship over the 'pond', but by putting multiple kits together, it would help out with the shipping costs. I have shipped before to the UK. Needless to say, I am not offering Morris kits here :p Though 99% of my customers were Morris customers. I do not offer ARFs, short kits only.
Check them out at: http://www.hsrcm.com Kevin :D |

remember, anything over £18 value and customs go apeshape and charge your ass. gift dosn't always work, and if you don't declare it has value and its lost, your screwed. saying SECONDHAND works, but only if it looks second hand. apparently in the US any RC hobby product is also tax free, wonder if we have same here

You guys should just move over here with us "Yanks"! hehehehe

good god no, we live in the true land of the free, non of this cant change crystals crap
|
Mis-conception
Philbaby - RC products are not tax free here, and I can change crystals anytime I want. Either I am missing something here, or there is a misunderstanding over there.

there was a customs thread a while ago, dun remeber all the details but theres a code you can quote to the little hitlers and they look in a book and give you your stuff. no import stuff. at least that was what was said.
as for crystals i didn't understand it untill another post answered, basicaly you can change them, but unless your some boffin with a gadget your not allowed to by AMA incase you shoot down a RC crane lol. |

It's not that Morris don't supply in UK, they don't have a supplier anywhere in Europe ! And nor does any other profile manufacturer except Thunder Tiger. I don't understand why. We pay a premium on everything in the UK so it seems mad their not making the most of the opportunity. Maybe if we had joined the Euro it would be a different story.
Availability is crap too. Kyosho Flip 3D and GP U-Can-Do-3D aren't going to be out here for months because the importers like Ripmax push their own products in preference. It's not just models. Cheapest Futaba 9C Tx here is £285 ($442). Servo city sell it for $260 ! And no I can't import because to replace the frequency module would cost me £70 ($109) and delivery would cost me $30. Agggggggghhhhhhhhhhh ! I can hear all you yanks laughing. Yes I may well emigrate. Oh yes, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you all. |

442$ ?!! OUCH!

couldn't we build and kit under license?
Surely thats better for Morris ect than any Englishman with half a brain cell copying the design, it's not hard. Then we could use materials here and skip all that red tape rubbish. yep, things would be different if we joined the euro... we'd all have to build, fly and live on unemployment benefit. most of the country's with it want it scrapped, thank god Tony has to let us vote first. Don't think just because we'd have the same coins you wouldn't be stung hard or harder than we are now for importing |

Nice Website Phillybaby!
My local shops do not normaly carry Morris products. Not sure why. I believe most of us in the states have to order direct from Morris and pay shipping. I recently bought a Sledge 540 kit. Advertized price was 109.95$ plus 8$ economy shipping (ground transport, about 6 days) there were no taxes on the invoice, and of course, no customs hassles or fees. Total price 117.90. |

Yep! As a Brit who is currently staying in the States, I can confirm that aeromodelling stuff is ridiculously cheap over here! that web site is just the clubs, mines on the way as soon i can i get this thing re-formatted and redo everything as Frontpage saved every pic at 70% quality ARGH! $109, thats what, about 70 quid for a kit?... Now the Cornishman in me screams at that price, i could build and finish it for less. no way a profile could be more than 20 quid in balsa and ply. that is if you stick at the lovely 36 sizes. So would any of these companys be interested in letting them be built under licence? theres places like Balsacraft that would do the cutting for a price. |
Profiles in the U.K.
How about you and a few rc freinds buy a kit and split the cost.
Then you can photo copy the plans and use the ribs an light ply for patterns.. Don |
Profiles in the U.K.
Im Cornish, we do that all the time here. Magnums... we've got Cornettos, Limbos, Cougars, Magics, all copied.
Just for once i thought it'd be nice to give credit wheres it's due and have a propper kit backed by the company that designed it. maybe even down to box art and instructions |

It would seem to me that we're badly losing out over here in the UK compared to the States. I would love a Morris Profile (the TT one is CR@P!) and agree that copying/drawing a plan wouldn't be too hard, BUT
1. I don't want build something from scratch, I don't have the patience, skills or time. 2. I would die for a Flip 3d now!! I spoke to Ripmax (Kyosho distributor in the UK) and they'd not ever heard of it!! Suffice to say I was very disappointed. Not wishing to steer the thread away from profile models in the UK, we are in a very poor position. I think the only thing to do is swallow the fact that you're gonna pay shipping and customs cost. Hope everyone had a great day today and santa brought the right stuff! ;) |
Profiles in the U.K.
Yup, Santa brought me another Saito .72 for my second Top Cap that I got for a great "Yank" price! hehehe Hey you guys should come over and see us and we could show you how to fly and take you shopping so you would be able to take a bunch of neat stuff home with you! hehehe :D

Magnums... we've got Cornettos, Limbos, Cougars, Magics, all copied." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Do you think there might be a conection? I make my living designing and selling products and machines. I am never anxious to sell my products in an environment like that. Some of these planes someone has spent a year or more working on, he would be quite foolish to sell to a group of modelers that did not respect him or his effort, when closer to home there are thousands of modelers clamering for his work. I don't mean any disrespect, but on behalf of designers like me i have to say pay up or design your own. Legitimate buisness is the backbone of society, black market type activity hurts everyone. |
