OMP GS540 Question
OK, I am at a point in my wing build that I need to decide one servo or two (split ailerons) per wing half. I am thinking that I will build for two, but leave the aileron one piece and cut it in the middle should I decide to go with two.
My question is: What is anyone getting out of the split ailerons other than a "crow" type function and possibly the ability to use less servo power? From what I have seen, this airplane flies slow enough, so "crow" is not really needed and I am using Hitec 5925's, so servo power is no problem. The only one I have seen fly does not have split ailerons, so I have no reference for them. Thanks, Dale |
OMP GS540 Question
Yeah, yeah ... I was thinking the exact same thing. I am leaning toward having split ailerons. I even got a carbon fiber wing tube to offset the weight of the two additional servos (perhaps 3.5 oz). I'm just not sure whether split ailerons will provide much benefit. I may be better off just running one servo per wing half and saving the weight.
Any comments or recommendations would certainly be helpful. Moses |
