what engine will you recommend to use on the pizza box flier.

i thought abaout the OS 40LA but some people told me they had problems with it.

any opinions?
did anyone have accpirience with the os40la?

Go with a light weight engine because you want the CG back. I have a Norvel Big Mig 25 on mine, my brother has an OS 25 FX on his. I like the OS much better and I will not buy another Norvel. The OS always starts in a couple of flips and I usually need a starter on my Norvel. With the OS, all you need is fuel and a glow battery. Anyway, that is my .02.....

I would say that the OS 25 FX is nearly as strong as the 40 LA if not even stronger. Yes, the 25 has plenty of power even at a elevation of 5200'. Hovers on a PBF are easy and you can rocket out with either of these 25's.

I had a 25la on my first PBF!! It had a old 25 max double needle carb on it... but it was more that enough to pull that bad boy around!!

I have a 40FP on mine and love it. Can't go wrong. I have mine pizzabox at 24"x24" and a hard wood motor mount, and mines weighs in just under 3lbs, and my 40FP flys it great.

Look at the weight of the 40LA, is weighs approx 12oz with muffler. then look at what a 25FX weights, They weigh about the same. And since you already have the 40LA you don't have to buy another motor.

The 25fx is a good choise and so is the 40FP or 40LA, However you will enjoy the ease of slow high alpha flight and steady hovering when using the black master airscrew 10X5 vs the 9X6 that the 25 likes. And if you over prop the 25 FX the engine will just get hot and loose all power. NO it's not a big deal if you deadstick your PBF it will just fall like a bag of fishing sinkers! BUT! if you happen to be flying over a property line or maybe over a muddy cow pasture , man thats a dreaded walk. No expert here just my 3 cents worth.. BENDER

The TT .42 GP engine with a stock muffler and a
10 x 4 prop works great on my PBF. You can hover at 3/4 throttle, nose high, with spare power to pull out when you get in trouble. Also, I have a PBF with a much run O.S. .40 FP engine and 10 x 4 prop which does the job too.

I am happiest using a 9X4 MA prop. My Norvel is OK with it and the OS loves it. We have run down to 8X4 props on both with great success. Have never seen an OS get hot and die unless it is too lean. Every flight has the potential to go through the full tank as long as you don't get too wacky - haha, yea right.
